I'd have to experience this so-called "man-made intelligence" before concluding either way. Even then, I'd have a hard time concluding due to the subjective interpretive aspects of deducing whether or not the AI represents a real form of consciousness or not.

Hell no, under no circumstances. Even though black people were awarded their rights, Robots have no logical grounds to gain rights. They are not humans, like black people are, they were created by man. Robots are property, nothing more, nothing less. They are created to serve purposes for man, not to have thier own indepedent life away from thier owner.

their is a thread talking about tommy chongs rights being violated and the media is passing it off as him being the violator being him profit off a dvd he made about his rights being violated.
so in a nutshell is we cant have rights or the right to defend them when violated why should a robot have the right to conspire?
like ill have sex with a robot if their any thing like a sex android. ( ill give her the right to suck my dick )

i don't think robot rights will be an issue, i believe it will be something more along the lines of rewritting our rights.
im convinced AI will emerge on the internet not on a issolated hard drive in a crash test dummy
as it stands now computers greatly affect our lives and even our personalitys...imagine the abilitys/control AI could do with that...what damage could be done or is already being done
im starting to seriously wonder if in 2012 we will realize we no longer serve what we thought was humanity...well build our first AI machine only to realize we ourselves are nothing more than AI

now that i think about it, ai robots could resemble humans and reptilian shapshifters could resemble humanity. so i shouldn't be so quick to use robots for slavery and sex cause i wouldn't want that for my own race.
i say we should be more afraid what happens with our rights before we create a a/i that needs rights. we should only be trying to save our rights in order to give rights away.

Giving robots rights simular or even the same rights as human can be a very scary thing. Do you really want them to be equal to us? Something that is not really alive, but man-made. Where is the arguement that they need rights, they aren't real people they are machienes. If they had rights, they could end up having better lives than actual people, they could abuse people, they could exploit people, they might even try to take over. No thank you.

If you were one of those robots I bet you would feel differently. What if consciousness is created completely in the brain and we give our creations that same brain complexity/consciousness?

Wouldn't it be wierd if the U.S had another civil war, one side wanting Robots to be equal human citizens with thier free rights, and the other side wanting them to remain maids and sex objects? Oh my goodness...
