    #8362432 - 05/04/08 07:04 PM (4 months, 1 day ago)

OK i have

Notebook Gateway mx6454

I'm having problems with poweriso/Nero both are spiting out coasters when i try to burn a few zip files to a dvd

I just created a ISO of the files to try, just wanted to check here to see if anyone has ideas on why this is happening . Its giving me BURN PROCESS FAILED..

It was working with covertDVD then i uninstalled it because i got a copy of Nero7 but is still fails...

My dvd burners a Philip's sdvd8820 its in a gatewaymx6454 notebook. Could i need new firmware???

In my experience, burners are very sensitive to the burning program that you use. Nero is an almost universal burning client, but I know it sometimes doesn't work with certain burners (i know because the burner in my desktop always spits out frisbee's with nero, but works fine with Roxio.) Usually with laptops the drivers that run your dvd burner are meant to work best with the software provided.

I would say try to get your old software back and just stick with it. If you have the discs that came with your computer you should be able to recover it.

Images of broken light which
dance before me like a million eyes
That call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a
restless wind inside a letter box
they tumble blindly as
they make their way across the universe

It came with roxio..It doesn't use drivers for dvd burners i believe it uses different firmware. Nero did work for me in the past. I think i need to re-install the firmware..any one have a link...
