And a happy one at that...
I guess the whole point of the adoption process for the ASPCA is to give a dog like the one I supported the chance to find a home and get what it needs until then.
Well I only spent the original 18 bucks and its only been 8 days...and a family with 4 kids came in yesterday and adopted him. They pay an adoption fee and for spay/neuter but regardless Bronco found a home almost immediately...
If he had not been selected off a list by me to adopt he was slated for euthanization on May 7th. Even though a lot of ASPCA shelters dont kill the one he was actually in was a little private shelter looking through the ASPCA to help...So The little 18 dollars bought him the time to find his family and we have been put into communication via email and the children all thanked me for saving their doggies life or theyd never have known him...
Almost teared me up...lol.
I really didnt know the whole process involved all this...but am happy it is so efficient, I am gonna adopt another and hope it goes as smooth, Ive asked to be put in touch with another shelter that has to Euth animals so I can save one that is slated to die....
I wonder if I had supported someone in a 3rd world country for half as much $ a month if they would be done with my monetary services so fast... or if they'd milk it a little longer, like I suspect?
This experiance made me realise what everyone can do within their power to save some of the abused and negelcted animals that usually find a needle rather than a home...a lot could be saved if we all just did this once...Just 18 bucks, 4 dollars more than the drug in the needle to kill him ended up saving him. A needle of the chemical to Euth a dog costs roughly 14 dollars.
