For a more detailed look goto http://www.theantidrug.com/pdfs/teen-marijuana-depression-report.pdf
All this seems to show is that depressed teens are more likely to use marijuana, which we've known. Self medicating through illegal drug use is nothing new. This study is about as informative as an infomercial for anal beads.

I think teens who are smoking marijuana are more likely to be depressed when adults are telling them marijuana causes or worsens depression. Maybe their depression is worsened because marijuana actually makes you think more, instead of deadening your senses to the world like alcohol? Maybe they get more depressed because they realize how fucked up things truly are.
WORD UP.
The anti-pot crap I had been fed didn't make me paranoid or depressed when smoking. But the first few times I took LSD I definitely noticed some paranoia that had been projected on me by "outside sources". I was mostly afraid of the "bad trip" scenario and was so focused on trying to figure out whether I was having a bad trip that I would occasionally have a bad trip.
The government is definitely trying to kill our buzz. They understand the power of suggestion over people taking hallucinogens and all this media buzz is FOR REAL an elaborate plot to get us to completely freak out.
THEYRE KILLING US WITH THE MIND RAYS MAN. AND CLEAR CHANNEL'S HELPING.

I don't think its bullshit at all. For 99% of people its probably not true at all. But the girl I was with for the last 5 years, plus the roomy I'm with right now, they both have extremely heightened anxiety and depression when smoking it.
I attribute it to people who often mood swing and have little to no self confidence, and add that to an extremely low tolerance. From the way they describe it to me, it sounds like the introspective effect of bud just makes them focus deeply on the things they hate about themselves. They can't seem to shake these thoughts once in the state. Pretty shitty for them.
Also I think that a lazy smoker that smokes too much can become depressed when they run out of bud. Combine that with certain personality traits it could defiantly cause depression if the person dwells on the fact that they are "wasting time" or "not getting anything done".

Well, of course it's going to make some people more depressed, it is a DEPRESSANT after all, like alchohol, but that doesn't mean that a strategic slowdown to the system can't be good for you. If you're a manic-depressive type, you should probably just be avoiding anything not prescribed to you.

This is the most important response to the whole thing. This is a big deal. They insinuate that if you are a depressed teenager (what like 80% of teens become depressed?) and you smoke pot, which they call SELF-medication, that you would be better off going through accepted, legal channels of improving your depression. Which insinuates RX medications are the way to go.
The antidepressants can make a mildly depressed teen suicidal, and even homicidal. (It's true, do some research Prozac is particularly scary) Other drugs they might prescribe a teen with emotional/attitude problems: Ritalin and the likes. All equivalent to feeding your child cocaine or meth.
I would rather my depressed or emotional child smoke some pot, than take most psych meds.

Do you have the capacity to understand the long term effects of fast food consumption? I don't agree with someone giving a kid anything, but giving kids fast food is abuse IMHO.

The thesis that I want to advance today is that the drug war and the laws that prohibit the private consumption of certain drugs are unconstitutional. Prohibition laws, themselves, violate every tenet of limited government that is embodied in our Constitution.

I can tell you firsthand that weed can create a horrible depression under the right circumstances. I used to hang out with black wannabe arrogant motherfuckers that always put me down whenever I tried t prove something. As if i was meant to be nothing just because I was a stoner. That with wondering that all these ideas were part of some sort of drug induced delusion. Fuck them though.
Its alot better though I haven't been smoking as much .......Man I could go for a good bong rip now!

So was it the weed or the fucks you were hanging around? I submit that it was the fucks you were hanging around.

There was an article in High Times about that recently. It said that the burning bush actually had told Moses the recipe for the anointing oil that Jesus later used, and it contained cannabis.

well the weed made me vary paranoid and aware about what people thought of me but this was probably because of all the people putting me down. When I get high I always feel vary awkward around people now......This wasn't always true though.

hellll yeah! High times ran an article on that back in 2003 as well...
I think sooooo much in the bible has to do with psychedelics. Every time someone has a "vision", sees angels, stuff like that... The oil... the burning bush.... The entire book of revelation is a trip report, I think.
Lots of good stuff in the Bible, lots of truth. Lots of stuff that should not be taken literally. Lots of shit as well.

IF ONLY SOMEONE COULD OPEN THESE PEOPLES MINDS!!!!!!
This once actually made me wanna be a Christian for a while. Especially the stuff that had to do with mushrooms.
Thats also why Christians somewhat piss me off. They put me down for taking mind altering drugs then worship it!
