 Incentive package . . .

So I just got my $600 "incentive" and although I'm not refusing it or anything I'm a little anxious about using it. I just read the story about the guy from Katrina that was asked to give back pretty much all the money they gave him to fix his house because they "overestimated" its worth(even though it cost him about $80,000 more than they gave him to fix it) and I keep hearing about how this money is putting our country in even more debt. . . I know it's stupid to think of but what if they decide to take it back? Thoughts about the "incentive package"?

Do you mean the "economic stimulus package"? That shit irritates me... Does anyone else think it is just a ridiculous concept? Did the IRS over-tax us all year, just to give it back to us as a "present" so we wouldn't try to dismantle their unconstitutional "service" to our country's citizens?

I know so many situations where they've done it before . . . but mostly to individual people not in large masses though. I just wonder what if they gave me too much? I thought it was supposed to be between $300 and $600 for individuals and I got the max and I didnt expect that. I mean I don't have kids or anything so why the max you know?

Too bad Ron Paul was excluded from the media coverage...he planned to dissolve the IRS and cancel the federal income tax.

I'd like to say that money might be better spent paying off our national debt, but considering our current administration it'd probably just go to buying more smart bombs. I used $200 of mine on food, beer and gas, the rest is going towards my credit card.

Yeah Its pretty much like our country is spending all this money on the war and now they are taking out a loan to give us money so we spend it and forget all our problems and not think that this money is almost making the USD value lower because we are borrowing money to make people spend it. . .

I really hope to get this check, but I still don't know all of the criteria to get it. I've heard that nearly anyone who files taxes and doesn't owe money will get a check, but I also heard that you had to of worked full time all year.
Is the latter true?

Spend the money - it's yours. It's a plan by the government to try to revive consumer spending (which drives our economy). They think if you have more money, you'll feel less insecure about our current economic outlook, and as a result will spend it.
Then once you spend it - whatever you bought will put money into someone elses pockets, and then they'll go spend it (money multiplier effect).
It won't be taken back, and it doens't matter if we got it from china. We have 9.2 trillion dollars in national debt - a little more from a nation who won't call their loans in doesn't matter. 9.2T < 13.1T (US GDP). Our debt is huge, but so is our output - although we do need to start tackling it before it becomes unmanagable.

Is China not in debt at all? How do they have so much money? I know they have over a 1,000,000,000 people, much of who work full time, shitty paying jobs but I still don't get it.

Communist China. . . think about it. Also alot of the technology comes from there. Things are massed porduced in china because its cheeper but they get twice our business that way too. China has the top like 7 rich people in the world.
