I don't have any addictions to shrooms ,like I would if I was a meth head or a crack head, etc...
I find that the least of all our threats are shrooms and weed.
But then again maybe thats as well invalidated by the frequent use and the user.
Still I find no reference to brain damage, robberies, accidents, or death associated with P/C.

Hmm i would say its the meth definitly used to have a mate who came shrooming every weekend with us until he found meth got him on the shrooms a few times after he was hooked on meth and he just couldn't handle it freaking out lots of paranoia etc.he hasn't triped for like 5 years but hes been on meth the whole time last time i saw him his brain was so fried was like talking to a 5 yr old kid, i also belive that you need a bit of time between trips to let the brain settle as somebody has already mentioned i've done them very often like twice a week for 6 months after the season ran out i was defintly a bit slower but a month later was back up to normal speed

That is what I suspected, that you could get back up to mental speed again from some shroomin.
The long term effects of my buddy and his meth habit are probably going to go on forever, but then again ya cant trust a tweeker to say he quit a month or even a year ago.
What I am seeking is opinions on personal extended use so that I don't end up going to shit too quick. And I do love to escape reality!
Here is something I dug up from one of the Universities:
Professor Roland Griffiths, from Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, led the study, the first rigorous investigation of the effects of "tripping" on a drug for decades.
The volunteers were all healthy, well-educated, mostly middle-aged and with no family history of psychotic illness.
Each attended two separate eight hour drug sessions at two month intervals. On one occasion they received psilocybin, on the other the drug Ritalin which was used as a placebo.
Medical professionals were on hand to act as "monitors" and observe what happened. Neither the participants nor the monitors knew when the test drug was being taken.
The trials took place in a room fitted out as a comfortable lounge, with soft music and indirect lighting.
Heart rate and blood pressure were measured, and questionnaires used to assess volunteers' experiences.
During the study, more than 60 per cent of those taking part described the effects of psilocybin in ways that met the recognized criteria of a "full mystical experience".
Two months later, 79 per cent reported moderately or greatly increased well being or levels of life-satisfaction.
Most said their mood, attitudes and behaviour had changed for the better. This was confirmed by interviews with family members, friends and work colleagues.
The findings were published today in the journal Psycho pharmacology.
Prof Griffith's said: "Under very defined conditions, with careful preparation, you can safely and fairly reliably occasion what's called a primary mystical experience that may lead to positive changes in a person. It's an early step in what we hope will be a large body of scientific work that will ultimately help people."
And yet this is listed as a drug punishable by incarceration.

Every time you trip, you don't really come down for a little while. So you basically have to give you brain a chance to completely return to its normal operating system and integrate what it learned. In my opinion, two to three weeks is a good enough time period. If you trip way too often, your brain never really resets. Slowly but surely, your thoughts never really leave their tripping patterns. Stay that way long enough and I think it leaves you pretty fucking scatterbrained and useless in any traditional academic sense.
I don't really think it's the psilocybin that does it to you, I think it's the experience itself. Obviously the chemical isn't at fault; it's all but proven not to be neurotoxic. I just think that an experience like that kind of reshuffles your brain, and you have to give it a chance to sort itself out.
I think you hit the nail on the head with that one.

doesn't tripping wear down neuron sheaths or some bullshit...
honestly i feel like if i'm here i should know my shit better, but someone once told me that psychedelics burn out this little layer that goes over your nerves. i think it starts with an m?
its supposed to be like a quick path for impulses to jump around a nerve quickly?
myioal sheath or something like that?
does anyone know the name for this thing?
was that information accurate?
edit, it was Myelin sheaths. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myelin#Demyelination_and_Dysmyelination
couldn't find any info on whether psychedelics effect it. seems unlikely though.

Myelin is a sheet of lipid, or fat, with very high cholesterol content -- the highest of any brain tissue. The high cholesterol content allows myelin to wrap tightly around axons, speeding messages through the brain by insulating these neural "wire" connections. In addition, the analysis suggests that alcohol and other drugs of abuse have toxic effects on the myelination process in some adolescents, contributing to poor treatment outcomes and exacerbating co-existing psychiatric disorders.
This is a pretty interesting part of the brain. I still cannot find any concrete evidence on P/C in a long term application of use ,can effect the brain adversely.
I do understand that you're brain needs a bit of a break after doing this for awhile because I have done it
I think I will go get a research grant for the study of this on myself and use the money to beef up my equipment in the process. I always wanted a fully sterile room full of stuff.

I don't think you would suffer any serious mental breakdowns from tripping on shrooms all the time... but I would advise against it. It may certainly have lingering temporary psychological effects. As well, if you do not space out your trips often enough.. it will lose a lot of its "magic". But you're not going to go brain dead or anything.....
But that's just me. I find tripping on shrooms to be a sacred event.. more than twice every few weeks is excessive for me personally. It is a sacrament and should be used in moderation. But some people can and do trip all the time. To each his own.
Your friend's problems sounds like it comes from the meth.....

Yes I agree with this completely.
The use for me is not to sit in a lawn chair and go "COOL COLORS".
My use is more out of creation and understanding.
Music, philosophy,and art.
Yes its a meth problem my buddy has,I ran into him last night and he was wondering if I knew anyone that was holding....Fuckr.
I cant hang with tweekers not even a just out of Juilliard graduate like himself. All that talent waisted on dope!
