I would guess so in that their is probably no law addressing it, however; they can always screw you somehoe, and traffic court is kind a kangaroo court in some respects. Their are plenty of vague unsafe driving laws that they could try to pin on you, then forcing you to defend the safety of the damn mechanism, which you probably couldn't do w/out tons of cash

There are laws in place to cover this.
The driver of a motor vehicle is the person in physical control of that motor vehicle, if you operate the vehicle from the back seat with a remote control then you are the driver of that motor vehicle.
I remember a case a couple years ago where someone whose license was suspended due to DUI built a steering and accelerate/brake pedal in the back seat thinking he could bypass laws and not be arrested for driving on a suspended license, he failed.
You can be charged with DUI if the keys are in the ignition and you are asleep drunk in the backseat. You are in physical control of that motor vehicle.

They will probably also get you on invalid registration or some other technicality for altering your car and driving it without a new inspection.

I would ask a cop about this one. The traffic code in most places at least here is about 2.5 inches thick. THEY WILL FIND SOMETHING. but then again there is always a car that bmw just built that drives itself. Im looking for a link but its on an episode of Top Gear that I just saw.

This is true because I know people that this has happened to. But it also really bugs the crap out of me because how far can they take it?
If you are asleep in the back seat with your keys in your pocket, could they also argue the same thing?
If you are camping, drunk, and have the keys in the ignition, or even in the car at all, could they argue the same thing, that you are "in control of the vehicle"?
I am not disagreeing, again because I know people to which this has happened.

The only thing I remember from what the FHP trooper told me, if you are inside the vehicle intoxicated and the keys are in the ignition you can be charged for DUI, from what he said, if the keys are in the ignition, you are operating the motor vehicle.
The time I found this out was when I was in the company parking lot on friday after work and there was a beer on the toolbox of the truck and keys in the ignition rolled backwards so the radio would play and the doors open so the radio could be heard. The trooper gave me a breathalyzer and I passed so the trooper couldn't give me DUI but he wrote me a ticket for: "open container: in, on or around a motor vehicle"!!! And he dumped the beer out then threw the empty OPEN CONTAINER in the bed of the work truck so wtf, same offense.

Yeah, it's probably very subjective.
Once when I was about 20, me and some friends were camping at a local lake, but way off the beaten path. About midnight, when we were all pretty drunk and about ready to go to bed, some sheriff deputies rolled up and said we were camped in a no camping spot and that we had to move.
We pleaded with them to let us stay and that we would be gone first thing in the morning, but with no luck.
So I remember finishing my beer in front of the deputies and we started packing up. (Drinking age was 19 then so that wasn't an issue)
They left and we left, and set up camp about 3 miles down the road in the middle of the night.
I guess they were more concerned with us camping illegally than they were with us drinking and driving.

They'd just charge you with "reckless endangerment". It doesn't really matter if you've broken specific driving laws.

The difference between the substances doesn't matter. This is a war on consciousness, on our right to the very essence of what we are. With no control over that, we have no need to speak of freedom or a free society. -fireseed
