well nowhere on my site, or on my profile do i claim that the customer will achieve a 2-3 day 100% colonization. I would agree that no bulk sub will colonize all the way through in 2 days.
It seems that most customers are experiencing about 3-5 day waits from spawn until casing.
I don't wish to argue about the matter. After all carlito, i know ya don't realize it but we pretty much grew up around here at the same time, and shared many threads in the past.

No worries WTS. I just want people to have realistic expectations is all. FooMan is using an isolate and close to 30% spawn ratio, so his results are definitely not typical in my opinion. The average grower, that is one using a multi-spore inoculate, would likely see slower colonization speeds regardless of the substrate content.
This has nothing to do with you.

There's the beginnings of my grow log for WTS basic substrate. Just spawned today. Thought i'd make a couple notes here for people who don't look at my journal.
- Product sat for almost two months, no visible contams noted
- Nutri bloom sat same time, still looks too wet, terrible feces smell coming through the bag. Will wait to spawn when i have extra available
- Basic substrate was nice and fluffy, had small clumps which proved to be somewhat difficult to break up
- Basic substrate also had a strong feces odor when opened as well, im used to a more "earthy, barn-like" smell, we'll see how it goes
- two qts of WBS spawn (strain: texas) were mixed in and tray covered with foil. Tub will sit at room temp (68-75 F) to colonize
Thats about it, so after two months or so of waiting with NO filter patch on the bag things seem to be somewhat ok. Will no more in a week.

Your website is seriously confusing dudes, I really wish you would stay consistent with the weights and terminology you are advertising. On your home page it says the Basic Substrate is 5 lbs. When you click the link for Basic Subtrates it says: "1 unit fills approximately a 20x20x4" area once spawned to. The dry volume is equal to just under 5 gallons". 5 gallons? As in 20 quarts? I don't think so. The "units" you sent me measure 7x4x12, so I highly doubt that will expand to 20x20x4. Then when reading further I see that this seems to be referring to the 100% straw medium, so I scroll down, to basic straw/manure substrate, and that says: "Approximately 10lbs". So is it 10 lbs or 5? Thinking I was ordering 10lb bags, I now have half of what I needed. So I have to decide whether I want to grow 1/2 a garden, or dump what I have into my back yard and start from scratch.

5lbs is a half unit order.
You probably received 2 bags, (which is one unit, 5lbs a piece). Once spawned, that easily creates a 20x20x4 area. 1 unit is more like about 14-15qts at field capacity. The DRY VOLUME is just under a 5 gallon bucket.

Their unpasteurized product had none of the "smell issues," I have and do work with various manure mixtures for wine caps and IMO their (unpasteurized product) was good poo all ready for cooking and spawning. It was clean (other than a little horse hair) and very well mixed

his substrate sat without a filter patch for 2 months before use.
This is not recommended. We now use filter patches though.

with all the problems the grow had i'm surprised i saw any fruits at all. It's hard to achieve "perfect" pinsets when you have to scrape away substrate.
 I wasn't trying to do anything more then see if the product worked. That's it. In the end it worked, even under less then optimal conditions.
Also, i don't even know if you bothered to read the journal or not, the picture in that post is AFTER i picked off a lot of mushrooms. So the initial flush was definitely a lot fuller then you see.

our crap is great quality. Go read FooMan's review in my sig.
The only thing we have changed about our substrate is the filter patches to increase shelf life.
It took a long time to get a sponsorship here. Over half a year. and our substrate is prepared correctly and works great. Especially if used when received.
Now that we have filter patches, the substrate will still be odorless and work great after 2 months of sitting.
