AA or AS
    #8369449 - 05/06/08 03:52 PM (3 months, 30 days ago)

Ok, I just finished my first semester of college. I'm trying to decide on whether to go for my AA or AS. Does one look better than the other or is just to determine what type of courses you wanted to take? I'm really confused on the subject and noone at the school can seem to give me a strait answer.

Well eventually of course. Isn't an AA and AS a 2 year degree while the BA and BS are a 4 year? I'm in community college and I'm going to transfer to a 4 year college after I get either my AA or AS.

It depends on what you're majoring in I guess.

AS is better, but there is not much difference because they are such low degrees.

Im one class away from a AS, but I will never take it because Im in the middle of getting my BS right not.

The important thing to take from community college is credits that will transfer towards your BS. The AS is a secondary thought.

Yet mark his perfect self-contentment, and hence learn his lesson, that to be self-contented is to be vile and ignorant, and that to aspire is better than to be blindly and impotently happy.

Yeah, I know what your saying. I went to an adviser for my first semester and kind of got screwed because they stuck me in a bunch of introductory classes that didn't count towards my degree. Kind of ticked me off. Now I'm trying to pick all my classes myself.

Why dont you finish up and get your AS?

AS tends to be better. It is also a lot more work.

I want to get my BS in biology but in order to do that I'd have to take math all the way up to Calculus III... Fuck that, I hate math. They also want me to take two computer programming classes for the BS in bio... WTF?

Yep, I have a BS and had to take Calc I and II, two years of lab physics, two years of lab chem, statistics, and a 6-week summer field course.

I could have gotten my BA in half the time.

Im busy studying for the GRE, getting good grades at the University and doing research. Taking a communications class at a community college would be a major waste of my time at this point, and there would be virtually no benefit. Ill have my BS soon, who cares about an AS?

Man, you know computer programming is vital for any scientific field. They dont require it for my degree, but I took it anyway because I know how important it is.

I'm going for my AS, AA's are usually retarded unless you want to manage a taco bell.
