The ratio of living expenditure to wages
    #8369556 - 05/06/08 04:15 PM (3 months, 22 days ago)

I'm interested

1. How much is a 1 bedroom flat / apartment per month?
2. How much is the average factory workers wage per month?
3. How much is a can of coke?
4. Where abouts do you live?

I'm just trying to get a rough idea what the situation is like because I think we are getting a very bad deal here.

I'll start...
1. £400 per month ($ are roughly double pounds, its $790)
2. £800 after tax 40 hour week
3. 65p
4. UK

I hear that UK and Netherlands are the most expensive places in Europe.
A lot of Europeans are coming here to work and a lot of UKers are working here and going abroad with their money.

1) Between $400 and $700 for a one bedroom apt., depedning on how nice of an area you live in.

2) There are no factory jobs here. A job for somebody with no skills or education will pay about $2000 a month full time.

3) A can of coke? 50 cents

4) Phoenix, AZ

Behold yon miserable creature. That Point is a Being like ourselves, but confined to the non-dimensional Gulf. He is himself his own World, his own Universe; of any other than himself he can form no conception; he knows not Length, nor Breadth, nor Height, for he has had no experience of them; he has no cognizance even of the number Two; nor has he a thought of Plurality; for he is himself his One and All, being really Nothing. Yet mark his perfect self-contentment, and hence learn his lesson, that to be self-contented is to be vile and ignorant, and that to aspire is better than to be blindly and impotently happy.

This can vary sooooo much even within a 5 mile radius. Not a very accurate metric, but it is interesting since most responses are anecdotal and I always like seeing a cross-section of the shroomery.

1. $400 (but I could find ones for $1000)
2. I've never worked factory -- I don't know. UAW guys make a lot of cash, small shops less so. Probably $2,000-$4,000.
3. $0.75 + 10c deposit
4. Michigan, USA

If i get could a room for $400 here I would be laughing. $800 is the minimum I've seen.

Kinda confirms we are getting a bad deal.
