 Who is the most over rated band in history?

I heard this on the radio this morning, and figured this was a good topic..
My vote for the most over rated band in history is The Grateful Dead. Now before i start a riot, and some of you grab your torches let me explain.
I have been to two dead shows in my life, and the few days leading up, and the parking lot on the day of the show was a great experience. But their music to me just is not that good. I think the Dead musically was far overrated. So thats my pick.

Yeah they were over rated but they covered well with their following,.... but for a more recently over rated band Id have to say Green Day or anything related to Gwen Stefani...Sell outs. Pretty much anything on TV or currently being pushed in the media is over rated these days, I hate 99% of new music.

I dont really like them at all, at best i think they are an O.K. ska punk deal but i do not think they deserve all the credit and bumper stickers they get....
I also agree about the Greatful dead, and phish....in fact...getting sleepy...just thinking about....it..zzzzz

I know its taboo around these parts, but I actually agree with you on it being The Dead. Their music just doesn't do it to me. I went through my Dead phase, but it didn't stick. 
I ma grateful for what the did with the counterculter movement.

oh god, ill could say 98% of music put out today. but to simplify things ill just say u2 because kiss was so bad ass. u2 really doesn't do anything for me.

U2 definately and anything like rap, r&b, country.
I just dont see how anyone could like that stuff, but to each his/her own.
