    #8363242 - 05/04/08 10:16 PM

Ok who all here have had german pancakes before. Ive had them all though my life and am just barely realising that very few people even know what they are.

They are DELICIOUS!

So what are they?

--------------------
It is the international system of currency which determines the vitality of life on this planet. THAT is the natural order of things today. THAT is the atomic and subatomic and galactic structure of things today...There is no America; there is no democracy. There is only IBM, and ITT, and AT&T, and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today...

You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations; there are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no third worlds. There is no West. There is only one holistic system of systems; one vast, interwoven, interacting, multivaried, multinational dominion of dollars.

I dont have an exact recipe, just something i have memorised.

3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
2-4 tablespoons butter

I preheat the oven to 400 degrees (while preheating i stick the butter in a caserole pan which is like 9 x 9 x 2 inches in size, and let the butter melt in the oven)

I beat the eggs, then mix in the flour, milk, and sugar in and mix well.

Once the butter is melted i swish it around bottom of the pan and sides of the pan (carefull not to loose any of the butter, dont use a paper towel or anything that will suck up any of the liquid) then i pour the egg mix into the pan and bake it on 400 for 20 minutes.

Once the 20 minutes are up i take it out, cut it into squares (the egg mixture will raise up a lot in all the corners and side of the pan and those are the best parts) then plate it and sprinkle powdered sugar or your choice of syrup over it and enjoy.

Looks a lot like yorkshire puddings, except they are savoury. Eat with gravy and a little sausage=delicious.

it REALLY is that easy! just preheat the oven, when ready put the butter into a pan(i used a cast iron skillet), let it melt, then take it out, coat the sides well and pour the mix in then bake for 20 mins. i took mine out at 17 mins and it was perfect.

:drooling:

i had never heard of this recipe before, which is surprising because my family and my fiancees family both has strong german backgrounds. this is definately my new replacement for boring old pancakes.

I was actually thinking about adding cinnamon the other day, i think i will now :] good idea of using vanilla extract. I highly suggest everyone invest in pure mexican vanilla extract its not imitation its good stuff but expensive (cheap if you go down to mexico for a couple hours and get a bunch of it)

No, I was responding to your mention of not using fake ingredients.

Fake ingredients = fake pancakes.
