What are everyones thoughts and experiences with addiction to mushrooms / psychedelics. Anyone have links with information about this topic? I've read conflicting answers and also read that psychedelics can help with drug addiction.

no psych's at all are physically addictive.
anything can be psychologically addictive. psych's, tv, putting your finger in your ass, etc.
and thats that.
anyone who says otherwise is stoopid.

No you wont get physically addicted but you might fall in love with the place it brings you and want to return often.

definitely not physically addictive.
is international travel addictive? if you like it a whole lot, you could say so colloquially, but tripping chemically or by jet is actually somewhat exhausting and self-limiting in terms of the commitment required to enjoy it. in reality people tend to want a break, sometimes long, between trips no matter how enjoyable.
i have read anti-psychedelic propaganda that conflates tolerance with addiction, along the lines of "users must take more and more to experience the same effects" ... this is true if you were, um, foolish enough to attempt to trip every day, end on end, like a full-time job. tolerance goes back down to zero after like a week.

It may not be physically addictive, but how about mentally. Cocaine is not physically addictive either but it is very mentally addictive.

coke is also pysically addictive i know first hand i went threw withdrawls when i quit sick for like a month pukin hot cold flashes it was terrible so get your facts straight

its cool... maybe you were withdrawing from other things? i.e. benzos, opiates etc. have thoes type of withdraw symptoms

nope as far as i remember i was just doin coke like i didnt even want to smoke weed coke was IT at the time for me
i was doin a lot too like 2-400 $ woth of the shit a day

Each time -during- the few shroom trips I had so far, I thought, 'I could get addicted to this' (mentally).
However after the trip, I just don't feel like doing it again for a few days.
And tolerance also helps.
If for some reason I wouldn't be able to do shrooms ever again, I would miss it, but not like I would miss internet/my computer for example. I'd feel sorry for not being able to have the experience again, but it's not like a craving, or uneasy feeling like I -have- to do it.

I've never known anyone who tripped with a consistency even close to that the more addictive drugs present (opiates, coke, etc).
IME, those drugs can be used as an escape from life very easily. They make you feel better without much exception.
Psychedelics, not so much. I mean shit, it's pretty hard to be addicted to a drug that often causes me to have revelations about the way I'm living my life.

While psychedelics usually aren't addictive, some of us get obsessed by them (most of the regular posters here).
And supposedly ketamine is addictive.

I've had experience with several friends using psychedelics far too often.
One friend would routinely have books of LSD. One summer he dropped probably every day or two. Eventually he ended up taking 26 hits gradually over the course of a night, mostly because of his absurd tolerance.
Naturally he had a very unpleasant trip. It was probably 18-24 hours long due to the continuous dosing over a long period of time. After that he changed a lot, and needless to say, he rarely does LSD at all anymore, and when he does he usually doses one hit.
So in my experience psychedelics CAN be addictive. Although not physically, some people are just silly and dose way too frequently.
Generally these people have an experience just like my friend, and find themselves unable to enjoy these drugs for quite a long time, if ever.
