Whole folder /files encryption ?

So I want to encrypt all the files of a certain folder, in a way that, to access all this folderīs files, I just put the password and voila..
Iīve searched around and a program I could find was this PGP (actually GnuPG for windows).. The trouble is, it only encrypts files manually, and it keeps a copy of the original file.. and when decrypting, it also keeps a copy of the encrypted one appart from creating a new unencrypted version.. So thats a pretty clumsy way..
Isnt there a program that just encrypts the whole thing at once, and pressing a password it unencrypts it all at once, without this messy making copies ?

Use SDelete for windows and srm to secure delete the original.

Recent versions of Debian linux have the option to use an encrypted filesystem on boot. Its not any harder than a normal Debian install and works great.
Windows XP has the option to encrypt your home directory with your login password. I tried it once (right clicked on c:\Documents and Settings\Alan Rockefeller) and chose encrypt. It broke my account and the account stayed broken even after I took the encryption off. Thanks microsoft! If I was going to try it again I would make a new admin account, log on with that, and encrypt my normal account without being logged in to it. Maybe that would even work.
Mac OSX has the filevault feature which does this without much hassle.
