Man... I guess it is true. Sad to hear, however he was an old man, he probably missed so many people who he surpassed in age. He is at peace now... great man, great life, etc what more could he have wanted.

this sucks.
too many people will still view him as a dumb druggie criminal who introduced the dangerous and deadly of drug to society.
truth is, he was a genius who was motivated by means other than money.

Not to be an ass hole, but do you really think he would enjoy knowing that he produced a hole new field of recreational drugs. I mean he was a scientist, he wanted to advance life as we know it by producing drugs that heal or maintain life. Would he really be proud that millions of people taking his drug only use it to fuck themselves up. I'm sure if he were reanimated he'd be happy to know those millions were mourning his death, but he'd also probably be sort of upset that his drug isn't being used for medicinal uses.
With that said, sucks that he died.

I'm saying that they're not taking it to heal themselves. They're taking it to observe the effects it has on them rather that to prevent themselves from drinking, or as an antidepressant, or whatever uses he was studying it for.
And once again it sucks he died.

yeah but i honestly don't think that the recreational use of the drug is entirely society's fault... the education and guidance needed to really use LSD to heal a mental illness is simply not readily available... if LSD would be legal the opportunities would be given for psychologists to research the drug and any citizen would be able to receive the needed treatment with LSD, under professional guidance...

I can say hypothetically when I was in another country and experiencing severe depression from too many losses, and had access, it helped me so much words can not express.
Paxil, zoloft and prozac did nothing, but that medicine helped me.
I wish LSD was respected as a medicine, and not a drug

I agree, an individual will do what ever it takes to help survival no mater what social influence demands. But medicine is a societal thing different societies of different laws on exactly the same substances. I'm going to stop here cause that last sentence, although understandable, sound contradictorary.

Just read his book "LSD: My Problem Child" that may help to explain that issue. I do believe he wouldnt be too happy with people abusing LSD, but perhaps he would be ok with safe and responsible use. However, as a respectable person and a scientist, surely the purely recreational way of taking it had to be where he regarded it as his problem child. LSD has made a positive impact on many users, some of which perhaps first tried it for reasons he would perhaps not support but ended up being good for them, then again some did and perhaps were not. Its the human part of the LSD equation that fucks up.
