Quote: Entropymancer said: It certainly doesn't seem like hoax material... the man was very old. He lived a full life. But I'd like to think that a person of his magnitude would recieve a commemoration by the media, even if his problem child isn't so well-liked by everyone.
It takes a little bit of time for people to pick up on the death of a famous person. Didn't it take the media like 3 days to start reporting that Charlton Heston died?
Give it time. If he is dead then I'm sure there will be tons of articles about it.
I'll wait until I see it on the news before I fully believe it(but I kind of already do), but this was coming....it was a matter of time. But he was blessed to have been given the opportunity to be here that long. I hope I do. If it's true, rest in peace Dr. Hofmann.
"The psychedelic experience - it has a tremendous force to revivify the spirit, particularly because it is not an ideology. It is not something someone 'figured out.' It is an EXPERIENCE. And this is important to bear in mind." - McKenna.
"We're not mad, we're just doing what we want. You rigid thinkers can't recognize the healthy sanity of that." - Harlan Ellison, "Crackpots"
Internet rumors of his passing have been confirmed for us by a friend of Hofmann's. Dr. Albert Hofmann died of a heart attack this morning at his home in Basel, Switzerland. Hofmann inadvertently discovered the effects of LSD while researching the substance in 1943. He subsequently self-administered the drug deliberately and produced the first accounts of its powerful psychedelic effects.
If you think 102 is old, just imagine how long he might have lived if he never did drugs!
I really admired and respected him. This makes me awfully sad, as if some of my best friends passed away... RIP Dr. Hofmann, and thank you for all your work and effort.
