µwatts-sec/cm2 needed to kill trichoderma

Im in the process of building a germicidal UV air purifier and cant seem to locate the µwatts-sec/cm2 required to destroy trichoderma spores. Any help would be appreciated.

Technically, fungi such as trichoderma are not germs, which is a generic term to refer to organisms that invade our bodies, such as bacteria and viruses.
Sterile procedure is the way to avoid trich in petri dishes, spawn and grain jars. Fresh air exchange and a basic pH is the way to beat trichoderma in substrates. I wouldn't have a UV system anywhere near where I was working. The risks of giving yourself cancer far outweigh the risks of letting trich spores through to your projects. RR

Germicidal is a catch all term for UV sterilization. While i understand your concern about its health risks, unless your foolish and expose yourself directly to it thats really not a concern. In any case all of your suggestions i have tried to the best of my ability yet trich strikes a strong as ever, even hepa filtration serves no other purpose that to be a net for it to spread itself further, so i have no choice but to destroy them.
So does anyone have any inclination as to my question?

Put a 20W tube on for 20-30 minutes. That should sterilize any surfaces. Usually in sterile transfer rooms you simply turn on the UV when you leave and turn it off when you enter. I think there are too many variables if you think you're going to sterilize air.

I agree w/ FF on this point.
Go with as strong a UV bulb as you care to afford and practice safe UV sterilization techniques. It will help sterilize in a nonchemostatic manner since fungal spores lack expressed photolyase enzymes (and as far as I know, the eukaryotic-only cryptochrome family of enzymes.

hmm, it doesnt appear any of you understand how UV sterilization works, much less the microwatts needed to kill problem spores. My mistake, i thought this was the advanced mycology forum.

I'm not sure you understand how UV sterilization works.
I hope to GOD you don't think that it causes any kind of free-radical formation, if so, I am wasting my finger strokes right now.

Yeah, nice response. You got a practical answer to your question. If you want to calculate out your distance and the W*sec/cm^2 that a standard 20W UV bulb delivers at that distance over 20 min then be our guest. It doesn't seem like you really even know what you're asking here or how UV sterilization works.
