cloning question

i was curious as to how many generations it takes for a clone to become a waste of time. also, would making a print from a clone, possibly during the last good generation, work to combat this, or would a spore print from the original clone-source be a better way to go (that seems like a dumb question after typing it, but better to be sure). one last thing: have read somewhere it is necessary to get more than one print for diversity purposes, i have also read the opposite of this. any thoughts?

thought this was better separated, but still in same thread...would making new LC from the clone LC be the same as another generation? i was thinking that if the mycelium was growing when you knocked up more LC that it would simply continue to feed on the new nutrients it is introduced to. i do realize that this would work at least once or twice and a person could fill up their fridge with the LC and use it for quite sometime, but is it still necessary to take a print?
