I only listen to two bluegrass bands, so my knowledge isn't extensive, but I like Iron Horse's Modest Mouse covers and Yonder Mountain String Band

It's common knowledge that Jewunit is an umemployed drain on society, supposedly attending some university that nobodies ever heard of.
He may in fact, be a literal bum, only able to make himself known to us here by occasionally stopping into dark internet cafes to make a few quick, frantic posts before the owners force him to leave because of the stench of rotting vegetables and desperation wafting forth from his pores.

my favortie banjoist is dock boggs. much more old timey really. another favorite of mine is Charlie Poole and the North Carolina Ramblers. good 1920s bluegrass. you should check these two out if you can. they both inspired me to learn to they play banjo.
and then there are also the perennials: flatt & scruggs doc watson & bill monroe the carter family ralph stanley etc. etc.

Bill Monroe of course.
Alot of people here will calim Yonder is good bluegrass. Personally I dont like Yonder at all. They are not bluegrass, and sound nothing like bluegrass. They are a cover band for the grateful dead basically.

around the beginning of May, i am going to make a bluegrass thread similar to the indie album thread. but right now i don't have time
some good ones to start off with are:
early Stanley Brothers, and Ralph Stanley early Monroe Brothers, and Bill Monroe Jimmy Martin John Hartford Charlie Louvin Hazel Dickens Carter Family

there's a term for this...'newgrass'
bluegrass influenced/based bands are doing amazing things nowadays. psychograss is developing (also a group name) and in some cases is phenomenal.
i love all sorts of grass

Here, Yonder is good.
I wouldn't call them a GD cover band at all, but they're not really straight bluegrass.
