I'll have to be more careful. I stuck these shifty shrooms in a sandwich and ate them.

lol. I almost just posted that to reach 50 posts. I don't know if this post is an improvement.
I've picked subs before, and these were damn close, it's because of the rain that I couldn't tell if there was bluing or black'ing'.
Hopefully I sound a little saner now!

The last thing we need is someone getting extremely sick or dying from mistaken 'shrooms and as a result, find that all our favourite patches are getting sprayed...
I went for a little hunt today, still no actives, even at my best spot. June will be so legit, have heaps of new spots scoped. Got some decent snaps though, I'll upload them later.

Went out today, didn't find any actives, found some that looked similar but weren't right I'll post some pics up later on. found a whole heap of other in-actives as well. I need to go out again soon to find a few good spots.
Are creeks good spots? Can't really think of any where to look, thats the first place that came to mind though. Also Mulch sounds like a common spot but do they just about grow any where? Would they grow i pretty dense bush? Pr around the edges where its a bit more grassy?

I went for a scout today. I found only four Subs. Kind of strange but that's it. Were any of you cats up in the mountains of Belgrave or anything? It was odd because all along my trails there were up-turned mushrooms. Like someone had pulled them out, had a look, and after realising they were in-active, put them back. Ciao

You can find them around creeks. I look for mulched areas around Pine and Eucalpyt trees, my best finds have all been in mulch under a combination of pine and eucalypt trees.
Have you tried searching the forums dude? There is a wealth of knowledge on this site that will help you on your way. It's still too early at the moment to find them unless you really know your stuff. Be patient! Just imagine how good it will be when you get your first haul. Very little compares to that sort of satisfaction.

i wasn't going to mention it but just in case you think it is a milk cap and therefore think about eating it, i don't think its a milk cap either. They're orange, usually depressed in the centre of the cap and bruise green. Hard to tell what it is without seeing the stem and gills..

DreamTwin - Yes I'm out that way! tell me when actives start picking up around there, then my area should start the exact time! I'm hoping haha
lukey2411 - yeah i've searched the forums, just trying to get some area specific info. I'm thinking maybe you are right, i think i'll wait till next week until i get serious about looking but for now i'm just gonna scope some spots.
just one more question, with the Pine and Eucalypt, how think can the natural mulch of that be for mushrooms? can it be as high as 1inch to 5inches? or does it not matter, saw a few places with those combinations but there was nothing there.

P. subaeruginosa will grow up there. Look in man made mulch beds in local parks and such. Look for obvious bluing. No doubt they grow in the natural bush there aswell, but very rare to come across IME.

I reckon Gembrook would be a good place for shrooms. there would be subs out there, i reckon out the back of gembrook, or power lines would be a really good place for them, went out there once and there was heaps of shrooms along the sides of the forest along some of the dirt road tracks.
