Does anyone know what the effects of consuming shrooms from a sprayed patch might be?
I wonder what types of herbicides/pesticides might be being used, so we can check up on their effective lifespan and safety to humans.
All this talk about sprayed patches has made me a little suspicious of the lack of weeds around one of my bigger patches. Hmmm, how shall I weigh the risks? ...possibility/extent of poisoning vs. degree of expected good times to be had.

I may be missing something, but if a patch is sprayed, how are you going to consume mushrooms from said patch when they will presumably never grow as a result of the spraying?

good question, if the mushrooms grow through a patch that has previously been sparayed, say last season, its ok as the pestiside wasnt stong/concentrated enough to kill the spores. Its happened to me where i though they wouldnt grow again, they did, i ate them trip was all good though i wouldnt go eating any decomposing shrooms that have recently been spayed, obviously..

I'm not 100% sure but he might mean they have been sprayed on the actual fruit bodies .... i find it so stupid the council tries to protect fungi in some areas and then try and wipe it out they contradict them selfs

I was thinking that councils/gardeners would be more likely to be spraying herbicides to get rid of weeds from garden beds. I hadn't even entertained the thought of fungicides being sprayed on woodchipped beds to prevent mushrooms!! Do they really do this? Could it be an urban myth to scare potential pickers?
I found an 'Orange City Council - PESTICIDE USE NOTIFICATION PLAN' (in NSW) and it only talks about applying fungicides to affected plants/tubers. Maybe we could get a copy of our local council's "PESTICIDE USE NOTIFICATION PLAN" and find out what they spray and where.

Sulfur is the main ingredient in fungicides, if you ingest sulfur you will most likely get a burning sensation throughout your digestive system and have some really enjoyable diarrhoea. If you have thrush or groin rot you could try rubbing the 'shrooms over your genitals though. I'd stay clear of freshly sprayed 'shrooms out of common sense more than scientific fact or physiological effects.
Councils/governments do not want a society of drug-users. They are obviously spraying spots for mushrooms, they aren't as stupid as most people think.

If they do have a spraying plan, you should be able to attain a copy under The Freedom of Information Act, 1982. It applies to all local councils in Victoria and whilst it seems that it is usually utilised to attain personal details, you can request details of government activity. It would certainly be worth a try. I think you can do it online as well.

Checked out some pine forest today in the middle of nowhere couldn't believe it but someone had all ready been there and left a few aminitas sitting in trees and stuff? Weird. Nothing else much there except a few galerinas and russulas
-------------------- We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole multi colored collection of uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.

I haven't gotten my 70-300 macro lens out yet, it was a little bit too dark and I was way too sick to muck around. I can't wait to upload some better pics, hopefully of subs.
I love how the larger one at the back of the shot looks like a kid trying to get into a photo, standing on his tip-toes.
Does anyone know what they are? I'm thinking they are Stropharia aurantiaca, all I have ever known are subs.

oh btw, Dizz - I've been meaning to mention your P.J quote. How about this one?
"Anyway, no drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we're looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power."
