cheers mate spore printing one now,it looks promising tho'. i hope so, first mushroom trip coming up i think.
Looks as tho me and the missus will have something to celebrate her bday with in a few hours.
Should be enough for a decent pot of tea between us.
Im thinking of making up 3 cups of tea. Drink 1 each then see how we go first in best dressed for the 3rd cup at the hour mark. Now to look for a recipe.
cheers,kingy

No worries, Well theyre definately all blueing arent they?

Heres a tea recipe, though i personaly wouldnt use fresh shrooms.
In a pot Bring 1.2 average dringing cups for everycup you want to drink to the boil, once boiling turn the heat off and let the water in the pot cool down for 5-7 mins or so, then add your desired amount of shrooms to the cooled water (i add ground mushrooms, you can just chop them up though) and let them infuse with the water for a good ten mins, stiring often.
Once well infused strain (optional) the tea into a cup with a few sugars, and there you go, you now have some nice tea to drink.
Haha im celebrating a friends bday with shrooms aswell tonight:grin:
Have fun

Kingy, no need to make 3 cups of tea.
You wouldn't drink 3 cups of tea in a short period of time normally, would you?
Just make one and sip on it, if it goes cold just put it over the stove on a very low heat until it warms up again, avoid the microwave.

You don't want to feel bloated or ill from too much tea.

thx undergrounder, your a wealth of knowledge. I added a small one to a cup of tea unchopped to give a little taste before the missus gets home and the gills went purple. The spore print was a faint purple, but no signs of brown in it. Just drank the tea and ate the sub.
Also the stems are dark all over now which IMO says they are subs due to excessive handling just to make sure, what you think.

yeah just make sure either you print each one you eat or at least make sure the blueing is obvious. They all look OK to me, though can never be too careful.

Im glad you thought the print was purple, that agrees with what i've been saying all along, the prints look purple not brown. The guys down in Melbourne reckon they're brown not purple....

Maybe they're colour blind, or the spectrum of light is different. Or perhaps they all just trip too much. Could be a different strain too.

Actually, come to think of it I confirm they are brown. I have some Melb spore Juke sent me.

Hi All,
I went for my first good hunt today and I'm pretty sure I struck gold!. I'm in wollongong.
Here is my pickings. I have posted and ID request so any help in that thread would be apreciated. I'm not 100% sure about the lighter coloured ones. They were growing in clumps with the darker one so I think they are just dryer.

I'm 90% certain they are all subs, my only doubt stems from me being inexperienced. I thought it best I just get and expert opinion before I indulge myself.

thank you for your help.

By the way i was checking out a local bit of bush near me and i found a patch of big sub-like mushrooms, although the stems were mainly brown... but the interesting thing, i'm sure i can see some blueing on them. It's not obvious, but it's there. They're printing up at the moment, if it turns out purple i'll go back and get a fresher mushroom to show the blueing.

I came across some of those blue bad boys earlier today, and have had them printing since. they came up a tan brown. the younger ones have a more pronounced nipple, and also a more solid blue colour. as they grow older, they seem to flatten out, and also get that golden centre. I found them in a nice bed of pine needles, spread out over a large area, on the north shore of sydney.

Crumble you mean you found those blue Cortinarius? i found a couple today too. Remember they're poisonous, the blue isn't psilocybin.

tmhr: just be really careful, brown stems normally aren't right and purple spores only means its one of a few different kinds of mushroom, some of which can still be poisonous.

i went for a quick search earlier on this afternoon.
as usual came up nil, but something that made up for coming up empty handed was the fact i came across 3 mole plants about 4 ft high,  someones set up a lil croperation  in the bush.
also jealousy struck when i found out some of my mates are goin down Oberon for the weekend?
from what ive heard oberon can be quite the gold mine for all sorts of mushrooms?  True?

I hope everyone has a successful weekend and if theyve already succeeded i hope its an enlightening weekend haha
take it easy folks

Ganja plants! Nice find mate.

I'm heading to oberon this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

haha its not the first time:grin:  Ill just leave them as is and check on em every now and then.  If and when they bud ill help myself but i wont rape them. maybe just an 8th here an there haha.  Though theyre lookin like they'll bud within the next 3 months or so, so i dont know how the yeild will be? anyone got any idea, would that (the time of year) even affect the amount produced?

I wish you luck tripsis, and Im eager to hear how it goes! =}

wow cool Gavn,  inever seen a plantation out in the bush... tho i did see a chook wire fence around a few cultivated bits of dirt once.

Anyway yeah the State Forests around Oberon is the NSW edible mushroom hunting capital. I never been, would love to go. Lucky bastard tripsis...

P.S. Tripsis i noticed you were looking for edible spores on another thread, i just got a generous trade of some reishi, oyster, shiitake cultures so if they take, i should be able to share them around. Im a newb to edibel cultivation tho so not 100% sure it will all work out.

I've seen one tiny mull plant out in the bush once, up at Stockton beach at a doof actually. Tiny, about a foot, but aleady budding. I swear whoever planted it had forgotten about them because there were heaps of bare bit of hessian around signifying where other plants had been but didn't succeed. I left it there.

Hey undergrounder, that would be awesome if you succeed with the edibles if you could spare some cultures. Very keen indeed to try. I've just started on button mushrooms if you want some culture of those when they fruit.

You can come to oberon if you want. You're down on the south coast right? I'm going to be leaving the northern suburbs of sydney around 7am though.

nah man i'm inner north-west Sydney, thanks for the offer man, i got a mess of exams due early next week though so i don't have time :mad2:

I;d love some button mushroom culture though, although i guess you can get a spore print from one in a grocery store? i don't know... anyway good luck in oberon, tell me what you find... i'd be interested to know if they're still fruiting well, i heard autumn is best.

Yeah I have exams too:sad:

But I have to run with the opportunity this rain has given me. Missed it because of uni last time.

You can get a print of button mushrooms easily enough but spores are very difficult to germinate. Because they're secondary decomposers they need other organisms present to catalyse germination. I'll send you a culture once they fruit.

Definitely let you know how it goes. Hopefully damned well! Otherwise I'll be not so happy that I gave up a day that I really ought to be studying on.
