Nah nothing in the bush as far as i know. If you do go bush, only well-rotten debris in lush ferny gullies seem to be possible. Pretty much nothing in the bush IME.
tripsis/Fred: nice going with that Cort auggestion, it'll be interesting to see which one it is. Typically Corts have an obvious ring mark a little way down the stem, the spores are really rust brown (as you can see in that photo above) and are always mycorrhizal to a particular tree, so the Eucalypt thing would make sense.
Do a spore print would confirm it, rust brown = Cort, Dark Purple/brown = Stropharia. That said, from your photos it looks like i can see a little rust brown on the stems.

3-4 hours from CC to Blue Mtns? Which way you going? Can you cut across through Richmond via the M2 and go Bells Line of Rd or do you have to go M4?
If you do go Bells Line of Rd, make sure to stop at Mt Wilson and hunt the gardens there, i've heard it's a fabled sub area.

Nice finds tmhr, dont worry about potency within particular sizing, let the little ones grow though IMO. Yeah they like the gums though wattle trees are just everywhere.

just a thought, if i got some dried gold caps procured from a clandestine cultivator, and threw them around my yard while it's raining, are there any chances of them growing? not too sure how long they've been dried for, probably 2 weeks.

There's a chance, but very little considering the microbial warfare going on in your yard and the time it would take the rehydrated mycelium to start kicking again.
If you want to revive dried mushroom mycelium try this method:

Ok so after failing my hunts at the entrance of bush trails. I took undergrounders advice and searched all the parks in the mountains only to find that im to late. As other pickers had been in. Where i did find the occasional pin thatd been left i checked a bit deeper in the bush and found a few strays (i think)
Do these look like subs, they appear a bit chunky to me. They bruised blue at the base but now they appear to have turned almost black after a few hours. anyway here some picks. Ill wait for the good or bad news that follows.

They look like subs to me, yea they are fair chunky hey. They do darken alot after theyre picked especially when exposed to air. Do run a spore print though
