Has anybody had any luck arount the lower northern suburbs round Chatswood-Gordon area? It seems to have been raining pretty heavily lately, so I was gonna go hunting through some parks ands such on saturday. Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated.

I didnt get time for a hunt as planned today. Due to our f**ked up washing machine shitting itself, but these little buggers are growing in literally 1000's around my suburb. I thought i struck gold when i drove past these streets lined with these. But upon closer examination i nearly cried Anyone know what they are,im sure theyd be fairly obvious to you veteren hunters. Hope the rain lets off a little or ill have to invest in some gum boots for tommorow.[image] [/image]

FUCK YEAHH!!! RAIN RAIN RAIN RAIN!!! It's finally raining on the Far South Coast!!! The ground is moistening.. I'm looking forward to the (LoooooooooNG) weekend!!!!
Also, I hate ripping up mycellium usually, and try to either cut at the stem with something or use my fingernails, but! I realised that if I collect some mycellium.. I may be able to transfer to another environment and GROW GROW!! I'll start a thread with updates IF it works / starts to!

Hightimes said: cool ima try what dizzwizzle and ZenXi6 are doing how did you do it dizzwizzle just get the mycelium in a jar with some wet dirt ?
Well what i did was, get some wood chips (no dirt), break them up as small as possible, soak them for 24hrs, then mix the myc shroom endings in with the well soaked chips, then put them into 2 seperate coffee jars with no lid but a double layer of foil for a lid. Then leave it until its well colonized.
I take no credit for this as it was the incredible Juke Adro who gave me the idea and directions. It seems to be going quite well, as you can see below.
These are both of the jars taken on different angles.

Also im not into taking full shrooms from their habitat, the only reason i did is because where i got them from there is an absolute abundance of shrooms. And its just the once off.

Yeah taking the mycelium and let it cultivate in a jar is definitely worth a try.

If you do it that way you don't need to put it in a jar, people normally use a jar because its required for the sterelisation process. Just putting the myc chips in a box open to the air is fine as long as you keep it damp:

You shouldn't have any major problem with a jar though, but if you didn't sterelise it it would be more prone to growing moulds than an open-air box. Watch out for green blooms. Anyway looking good so far, good luck! the fruiting is the hard part.

Anyway yeah i did a quick hunt today and hit the jackpot on the upper north shore. 'Old faithful' is fruiting like crazy. This is the same patch that was fruiting pretty sad last month. They're out there, go and get 'em!

Half ya luck!! nice find undergrounder I spent about 6 hours hunting today. I took spare clothes bcoz of the rain. Went through 2 sets of clothes and 2 pairs of shoes before i relised i should own a raincoat.
Bought a full body set raincoat (if you see a huge yellow canary wandering around its me )
continued my hunt and found 100's of mushrooms but no subs
Id like to go hunting again tomorrow but my eyes have flashes of mushrooms in them,if i close my eyes i see a mushroom if i look at a painting with trees on it i look for a mushroom lol... to much for one day. A few beers should clear the retina burn.
Ill end up going hunting again tomorrow tho as its my wifes 25th bday this weekend and we have nothing to trip on wish me luck
cheers kingy
ps. i know its a long shot but if therez any old hunters out there who dont pick anymore and would like to PM me a spot they no of in the mountains it would be greatly appreciated LOL. haha worth a try!

Thanks yeah... and best bit is it's just down the road. Sure saves on petrol. I didn't pick it, but i'll take more photos, some prints and try and spread it around. Once i get time in a few weeks
Hey kingy what were the ones in that photo you took? i can't tell. You'll find them man, maybe try a few of the less obvious places. Did you see any other pickers? i reckon it'd be pretty popular up there at the moment. If you're having no luck in the lower-mid mtns, try the colder spots up north. In fact why not head for the highest point of the highest point in the blue mountains - hint hint. I think there's a water tower there or something. Check the ground around the tower. If you're still stuck after another day's hunting and you get yourself a topographic map of the mountains i can give you a coordinate or two.

Hehe yea Australia is a great place
Thanks for the advise undergrounder, would there be any point of putting them in an open air box now? Is that just for it to fruit? i was gonna make a patch in my garden bed for them to grow amongst more wood chips and than cover with tarp...

If they're happy in your jar i'd leave em, just be careful to spot any green or pink moulds, and change to a box (remove the affected chips) then if it happens.
Of course to fruit them once it's colonised you'd need to put them in a box with a casing layer, a bit of humidity, cold temps below 10 degrees and a little light. That's the hard part.

LOL yeah and you can speak Dutch? There's also this page and this page, plenty of info there. If you have access to a pressure cooker or at least a bunch of pots, i suggest doing a proper sterelised BRF cake tek using subaeruginosa spores. The myc will rip through it pretty fast, it's the fastest way to make bulk spawn for subs that i know of. But if you're in no great hurry your chips should work fine as long as they don't get attacked by trich or lipstick molds
Edit: Oh i can see it now, yep that tek should work fine. If you don't have grain, BRF/verm would work just as well.
