My New Glovebox
    #6699070 - 03/22/07 11:56 AM (1 year, 5 months ago)

Check out my sweet new glovebox! I made it using an 18 gallon tub, a piece of plexiglas, some heavy duty rubber gloves, plastic vent tubing, duct tape and hot glue. Only cost me $16!

Nice. Mine is not as pretty, but no contams yet.

A cardboard box, some duct tape and a little cling wrap:cool:

How did you fix the gloves to the vent tubing and how did you fix the tubing to the box.... and how did you fix the plexiglass to the lid. Did hot glue do the trick for all that?

BTW - VERY nice glovebox!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where did you get your plexiglass? I am thinking about upgrading to a nicer GB. I guess I could go down to the car audio store.

Lowe's always has a nice big section of various thicknesses of plexi, they'll even cut it to shape & size for you there in the store.

Nice work. Depending on the work that you're doing, though, you may feel restricted by the tub's small footprint. In my situation, a shorter tub with a larger area bottom was a better choice. I really like your high range of mobility, though.

Yeah, I used hot glue to attach everything together. I glued on both sides of the plexi a bunch of times just to make sure it wasn't gonna come off. I ducted taped the tubing onto the box and then hot glued the seams. As for the gloves, I just stretched them over the tubing.

I was actually thinking about putting in a shelf so that there would be a little more space to put things. I'm thinking I'll probably just drill holes in the sides right across from each other and find some kind of rack that will just slide into place and be glued.

HAHAHA Awesome, that brought back memories for me. I used plastic drier duct on my first glove box too. Its ghetto, but it does work good, it never let me down.
