yay
it'll be nice to watch fedor fighting someone good, let alone fighting again in a long time.
Although the article is wrong because mark hunt was a top 10 ranked (wins over wanderlei, cro-cop, TK) when he fought for the belt.
it will be interesting to see fedor stand with sylvia, which he probably will do. I think Fedor has faster hands and feet than even Randy did when he beat Sylvia.
if and when it goes to the ground, it will be over quick. But i'd love to see a standup fight. Although tim is DAMN taller than Fedor, if i had to guess i'd say it was almost a foot.
but i can see fedor cracking sylvia on the feat. shit, if nogueira and couture could do it...

what is this HDCnet - cable channel???
Emelianenko's Manager: Sylvia Fight Not Signed by Dann Stupp [mmajunkie] on Apr 09, 2008 at 10:03 am
Although the two fighters appear close to an agreement, heavyweights Fedor Emelianenko (27-1) and Tim Sylvia (24-4) have not signed bout agreements for their reported July fight.
Sherdog.com first reported the bout, learning of the fight directly from Emelianenko. The fight is expected to be held under the Affliction banner and will likely air on Mark Cuban's HDNet high-definition station.
However, Vadim Finkelstein, Emelianenko's manager, threw up a caution flag and said the details are still being worked out. Additionally, a representative for Sylvia confirmed the pending status with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) overnight.
As Finkelstein told m1mixfight.com: "At the moment we can't certainly say the bout will take place come July because the contract is not signed. However, the both parties are involved in the negotiation process and we are about to break the finishing tape although we haven't come to an agreement concerning every detail as of yet."
While Finkelstein makes the bout sound promising, it's worth noting that the Russian can be a shrewd negotiator. As MMAjunkie.com previously reported, EliteXC offered Emelianenko a four-fight deal that would have paid a minimum of $300,000 to $500,000 per fight. However, EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw later confirmed that Emelianenko and his camp wanted $2 million per fight.
Those tough practices have also apparently slowed a potential deal with the UFC, with whom Finkelstein and Emelianenko have on-again, off-again negotiations.
Emelianenko, 32, held the PRIDE Fighting Championships' heavyweight belt for more than four years before the organization's eventual demise this past summer.
Although he's defeated some of the most notable fighters in the sport, he's fought few (if any) top-tier guys in recent years. He last fought in December at the Yarennoka! New Year's Eve 2007 show, where he defeated 7-foot-2 Hong Man Choi with a first-round armbar.
Sylvia would arguably be his toughest test since an August 2005 fight with Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic.

I think Fedor with a submission...
Tim is a stand up fighter, with decent sprawls. The man can hit pretty damn hard too.. So i would laugh my balls off if he whacks fedor and get a TKO with strikes, after a fucking fluke uppercut... I don't see Fedor keeping this standing to long..

Coming up this weekend
the undercard is better than i expected a while back
shit even the untelevised fight is a great matchup, Savant Young vs Hominick
I'll pick Savant over Hominick, cuz Savant has always been damn solid in the IFL and I don't see Hominick pulling off a submission, although he might since he's going to be on his back against Young, and there lies his strength in ths ground game.
Levens over Lazima
Belfort over Terry Martin. Belfort at 185, I don't think the move was necessary, because he could still overpower people at 205. we'll see how it goes. It could be good or bad depending on how he deals with slimming down. I just dont like his conditioning.
Rogerio over Dewees. Nogueira is still one of the best.
Aleks over Buentello. What a great heavyweight matchup...But we all know how good Aleks is on the feat.
Pyle over Ambrose.
Sobral over Whitehead. Mike has no asset in the standup over Babalu. Sobral always has trouble against good standup guys because his takedowns just aren't very good.
Lindland over Negao. Obvious reasons.
Barnett over Rizzo. It's revenge time, Josh is going to be flabby but he'll still be good. Just work on your damn conditioning. Rizzo has a good style against him though, so Rizzo could possibly pull the sweap. I just feel he's too old.
Arlovski over Rothwell. Another out of 4 interesting heavyweight matchups of the night. Ben is awsome, I sure hope he shows up with enough conditioning to go against Andrei.
Fedor over Sylvia. As previously mentioned.
Affliction did a very good job of marketing and designing a fight card to lure many viewers.
They did this by demonstrating a massive depth at the Heavyweight division, something the UFC has constantly been depleated in over the past 5-6 years.
The UFC has never mustered a better heavyweight card for a very long time (probably UFC 51).
I don't care as much about watching Anderson Silva fight Irvin. It's been too long since Fedor's fought, or fought someone GOOD.

Pretty fuckin pumped. Too bad Aleks couldn't get licensed, Goodridge vs. Buentello just doesn't sound good. Goodridge just doesn't sound good.

the most surprising thing to me is that after not fighting someone really good in a long time, He never lost a beat.
But I guess that's what robots are for huh
