Or maybe more of a subforum, since we already have a place for music shit.
I know you don't want this place turned into a site for (illegal) music exchange, but I was thinking of something that would require either invites or a certain amount of posts/time regged so not anyone can get in. In said (sub)forum people could request albums, and if someone had it they could up it to Divshare or something and post the link. Another use could be making full album suggestions (threads like "The Album Thread" or "The Indie Album Thread" could go in there.)
I know there are other ways to get CDs online, but sometimes it's just easiest to come here. Say I want a Yonder Mountain String Band album, I know for a fact people here will have it. I don't really have the ratio on private trackers to be frivolously downloading things, and it is a good way to spread music through the community.
I expect everyone to shoot down this idea, but I figured I'd throw it out there anyway.

I think that would bring much unwanted attention to hte site.
But now if you go with unrealeased music( live shows and studio outtakes ect...) that would still be legal and probaly wouldnt be a totally bad thing.
Sites like dimeadozen have been torrenting live stuff for quite a while without any problems.
Not that we need another torrent site but if we had to this would most likely be the safest way for the shroomery not to get into trouble over it.
Not that I'm against downloading cds and stuff but it is technically illegal and might cause problems.

That's why I think a time/post/invite system would be best, not everyone needs access. Just people that frequent the Music forum and are looking for new music. I'm not trying to create some big music trading site, just somewhere that people can pop in and get a quick CD or two.
