I think that ratings good or bad, should be removed if the user who left the rating was banned. Any opinions?

This has already been discussed and debated ad nauseam, with the result being the current system. Personally I agree with you, but people were unhappy when we removed banned users' ratings because it turned out they left more good ones than bad.

This is a terrible idea and there is absolutely no reason for it.
Ratings are for fun, not for serious.
Anyone trying to make a big deal out of anything to do w/ ratings is being silly.

ive gotta say that i definately take someones ratings into account when i see their name before i talk to them, but i think this is a terrible idea, if we removed all banned users ratings, then there wouldnt be many ratings left, seeing as how many people have been getting banned recently.

Ratings are just for fun.
Anyone who takes them to heart really should take a look at their priorities. Worrying about ratings is just stupid.
That being said, just because a user was banned does not null their rating. At one point they had an opinion of you, be it good or bad, and voiced their opinion via the rating system. It should stand.
Just my 2 cents.

I look at ratings too before trading and talking to someone using PMs.
If they were banned, it had to have happened for a good reason.

I take it into account a little bit when talking to someone, but I try to give everyone their due chance.
It's just that sometimes, you can totally tell why they have such a low rating.
I really was trying to help imachavel understand nuclear fusion, and he ended up getting banned for telling me to have 12 year old boys... you know....
I felt kinda bad, because we had cleared everything up (except for his understanding), and then he got booted.
