 Colon Cleansing (fun picture inside)

This is bizarre, and maybe I'm misunderstanding it, but... there are ropes of wasting meat, fecal matter, etc, tied up in your colon. The average person has something like seven POUNDS of this in them. google image search 'colon cleanse' or something similar.. here's an example:
Apparently, according to my not-that-reliable source of a friend, it takes something like six months to remove these from your body, and it involves spontaneous shitting.
Any thoughts?
*side note: John Wayne reportedly had over 12 pounds of "meat ropes" in his colon. Now that's manly.

Well, I don't think this is true.. And I don't know what to think about that picture.
But I once saw an episode of that Penn and Teller show called "Bullshit" and they were checking out colon cleansing and how effective colonics are. What they said was that your colon is basically a smooth tube and there are no "pockets" for these ropes of wasting meat and other shit to get stuck in.
If you get a colonic, you are basically flushing the crap out of your system that you would normally shit out the next day. I think this sounds logical and I believe it, but I'm not completely sure.

Interesting. I'd be pretty happy to know that there aren't meat ropes in my body. If someone could shed some light on this with facts, that'd be awesome.

Supposedly these are a hoax. The medical establishment does not recognize that they exist. They aren't seen during colonoscopies, autopsies, or surgeries. And yet the people that pay all of that money for the special fiber cleanses to get rid of them report them coming out after a while. The only thing I can think of is that they're formed by some ingredient in the cleanses.
They're called "Mucoid Plaques."

The problem is that you guys have not heard the rest of the stories with colon cleanses.
I read a guys story, where he said that orange, blue and black colored lumps would come out. he even said that a a grey sack came out of him.
Penn and Teller are puppets, to the corporate interests. I saw their documentary on 9/11 and it involved a interview with an uninformed person who knew little but a small inconsistent fact about 9/11.
If you watch the 9/11 documentaries you hear indisputable evidence that 9/11 was fake, but these guys casually leave out so many truths and have a guy with little knowledge testify why he believes it was caused by the people who profit from war and hatred.
For example - they left out that NORAD the was put under the power of dick cheney two weeks before 9/11 and it took them 80 minuts to respond to the hijackings after they first found out about them, because of inner confusion, purposfully placed. normally it takes them 3 minutes to intersect any plane off course from a hijack....another thing they left out of their documentary was the fact that george bushes cousing, jeb bush, bought the security companie in charge of monitoring activity in the building...another thing was that they left that that a week before 9/11 they shut all the power down in the buildings. This is of no consequence man, 9/11 was perpetrated for profits of companies, whom are the richest in the world...currently the world spends 10 trillion dollars a year on weapons and machines of war. Fuck its no coincidence that dick cheney owns the main fucking company that sells weapons to the government. GOd damn its so obvious once you see that shit...but in main stream stuff, you never see it, all you see is..AN american would never do that, shame on you for questioning!!!

This is just the same thing as before when they 'proved' that smoking was not bad for you. It will repeat itself because of a lack of knowledge and to much trust in government and coprorations.
i will be trying it out soon enough. I'll tell you how it turns out.

Dude. WTF does the 9/11 conspiracy and corporate interests have to do with some alternative medicine nut scamming people into paying for stuff they don't need? If mucoid plaques were really endemic to most people in the U.S., modern medicine would say something about it, as doctors would be dealing with them every day. And the pharmaceutical companies of course would be selling us something to take care of them. If mucoid plaque was real, people would pay big pharma hundreds of dollars to get rid of them. Instead, some dodgy new-age medicine dude tricks them into swallowing indigestible fibers and gels that form into the weird shit they find coming out of themselves. There are no corporate interests behind hiding the existance of these ass-rope things. They simply don't exist. And alternative-medicine practicioners scamming stupid and gullible people is almost as old as corporations taking advantage of the same.
And btw, Kevin Treadau's "Natural Cures" is the most expensive roll of toilet paper I've ever seen for sale. Of its content, what isn't common knownledge is missinformation.

i look at a lot of medical records at my job, sometimes i turn over one page in the stack of records and BAM! a color photo of a 55 yr old guy's colon from his colonoscopy. from these unfortunate but frequent instances I will admit that I have never seen anything but a pink inside of a colon.
Your intestines are designed like a balloon, the tube only expands when there is food passing through that area, then it returns to a normal state. Picture a snake eating a bunny, thats what food looks like in your intestines.
so, that would mean you would have some serious fucking constipation issues and probably a serious medical condition if you had a long string of whatever that is just sitting in your colon. IMHO.

Irratable bowel syndrome comes to mind, the cornking. I know that on average alot of people in this country poo like once every two days. I go 2-3 times daily. To the previous posters, you dont have to believe anything i said so dont feel angry. I was just refering to the post that talked about Penn and Teller saying colon cleansing is a gimmick. Basically that they are puppet for profit makers, namely pharma and war industries.
Like mentioned previously...the pick isnt the only stuff that comes out of people - pictures of orange, red and dark blue clumps of crap come out when these people do colon cleanses.
They also talk about how great the feel and how they go to the washroom much better now.
Did you know that most the studies in the world concerning medical subjects, are funded by pharmaceutical companies???

Problem is, there are no real studies backing the existence of Mucoid plaque. And of course the people doing the magical colon cleanse shit feel better. They are downing huge amounts of fiber everday, which probably isn't bad for them. But if there were anything looking like that inside of people, then doctors, morticians, med students doing dissections, etc. would see them every day. If they were actually inside the majority of people, it would not be disputed. What is coming out of these people is probably something that's caused by the "cures" they're taking in the first place.
If you really want to support your claims, go on PubMed and find some decent articles. So far, you've posted testimonials and pictures from a website trying to sell us something. You know that there are companies that will write testimonials, and even construct entire web forums full of fake people talking about a product? The latest in advertising in the internet age.
You really believe in this stuff, huh. What's come out of your ass?

Just did a search on DrNatura and colon cleansing. It reminds me of exactly what I saw with the Hoodia boom a few years ago. A bunch of websites all selling colon cleanse products, all plugging each other. Probably all owned by the same corporation. And the few, honestly independant reviews you can find, that aren't on some "colon-cleanse-this" or "colonix-that" website say it doesn't work.
Also, the DrNatura website warns that if you let your fiber drink sit too long, it will become to thick to drink and you'll have to toss it out and make more. I'm guessing that it contains some kind of polymer (natural or not) that forms those ropes in your own body. Then you get to shit them back out and feel like you're ridding yourself of toxins. Which you are. But they weren't there until you felt the need to do something about them.

"Colon" cleansing is actually a bit misleading, as the cleansing takes place in both the small and large intestines, which are most definitely NOT "smooth tubes."

As you can see, there are many folds in which matter can accumulate, in addition to the millions of villi projecting from the intestinal walls. IMO, a "colon" cleanse is a great idea, particularly if it is done as a fresh start prior to transitioning into a health-supporting diet.
