The biggest risk I ever took was...
    #8203152 - 03/27/08 07:58 PM (8 months, 4 days ago)

Post your own stories...

I took out a 15K loan to make 3K in 4 days. Mind you it was spread across multiple juices (credit card, line of credit, margin)...lol I'll fill in just how much I actually lost because of the interest/commission some time next week...

I liked the post. It somehow put taking financial risks into perspective.

About to spend most of my money on a business venture. I only have about 15k in the bank so its not a huge amount. The school here pays for me, so housing/tuition is taken care of, all I pay for is food which is where the stipend they give me will go. So basically Im viewing this money as expendable and am interested in seeing where this first venture goes.

Probably nowhere, but at a minimum it'll be a good learning experience. I need to build my prototype first though :smilingpuppy:

When I was a teenager I had a weekly automatic withdrawal of 50 bucks that got put into a tech mutual fund. I figured it was a long term investment and the constituent stocks were all blue chip tech companies (IBM, Intel, etc). This was circa 1999-99 and the price was shooting up and up. It reached a value of 5000 bucks (I had paid 3000 in total) before the tech sector collapsed.

Today's market value: 600 bones

Could have been worse, but fifty bucks a week is a lot to a teenager.
