Huge haul of magic mushrooms seized in traffic stop

OSHAWA -- Cops acting on a hunch seized a huge haul of psychedelic drugs in a traffic stop Monday evening in Oshawa.
Detectives followed a vehicle they'd spotted behind a business on King Street West around 7 p.m. and initiated a traffic stop, seizing almost 1.8 kilograms of psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms, with a street value of almost $36,000, Durham police said. Police also found 110 grams of marijuana and eight grams of hashish.
Matthew Macavelia, 19, of Glen Street in Oshawa, and a 16-year-old Oshawa male whose identity is protected by law are charged with drug possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

fuck that, flaws on even a workable understanding of chemistry
if canada is as dumb as the US, the mushrooms were legally psilocybin, but that doesn't excuse them reporting possible legal fiction as fact.

I think they use the consumer value of the product. Not wholesale value. So what the final user of the product would pay. It's not uncommon to pay $1 a gram.

1800 grams even at an average market price of $5 a gram is $9,000.
In fact the whole haul (not sure on the exact value of the hash) sold as $5/g shrooms and $10/g dimebags (the maximum you could get for them) then estimating $100 for the hash = $10,200 at it's maximum street value. A value more than three times less than the statistic they seam to have pulled out of their ass and they say only covers these mushrooms.
