This is a little bit different but so similar. I have been keeping an eye on this technologies for a couple years now and its way cool.

My brother was just telling me about this. Him and his friends just built a hydrogen cell in the back room at his job. His friend is trying to get his lawnmower to run on a hydrogen cell. Next stop... our cars.
I hope this really does take off.

Both of these technologies should be put to good use.

I don't understand what's so special about the torch? He does mix water with gas so that the water vaporizes first and the torch itself doesn't become hot, while the burning gas is hot after all water is vaporized?
I don't believe his torch is running on pure water, same for his car. I need more than just a video to believe that we can get energy out of H2O.

HHO gas burns a lot more efficiently than gasoline. It burns a lot hotter, too.

You burn the HHO gas, which is made with a hydrogen cell.

Yeah, hydrogen (H2) will burn (react with oxygen). Far from burning water though. We can make hydrogen from water by electrolysis, but that takes at least as much energy as you could ever regain from burning the hydrogen. The other option is to convert/extract hydrogen from natural gas, but we don't have unlimited gas.

That guy's torch is powered by HHO gas. His car runs off of HHO gas as well. He doesn't have to make it a gasoline hybrid.

I heard about this guy a couple years ago, and haven't seen anything come from it since. I am siding with Annom here, the video seems very vague about the technology.
I guess we will find out one day, but I doubt this guy is going anywhere. His name has been around for quite a while, if he was going to disappear, it would have happend at first release, when his selling point was cheaper, before more media.
Lets see what happens.

I didnt watch the video, but you cant bun H2O and get energy out of it. What is actually proposed here? What is the chemical equation if H2O is claimed to be burned?
What does that mean "the guys torch is powered off of HHO gas". H2O gas (also known as steam) doesnt combust or create energy. Is he running off of the heat? In that case, the H2O is not a fuel.
Agian, I dont watch videos on here. If somebody wants to explain it (specifically), that would be great. Otherwise, getting chemical energy out of H2O is BS.

YAHT (yet another hydrogen torch). All he is doing is electrolysis on water (with sodium hydroxide for ions), capturing the gases (two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen or HHO), and then burning them creating water. Energy goes into the system to break the water apart into the gases and the energy is later released when the hydrogen and oxygen recombine into water. There is no free energy and the efficiency of electrolysis is the kicker for the system. Not to mention how horrid of a greenhouse gas water vapor is; the pollution created when burning hydrogen.

Quote:
Wiki says: A hydrogen vehicle is a vehicle that uses hydrogen as its on-board fuel for motive power. The term may refer to a personal transportation vehicle, such as an automobile, or any other vehicle that uses hydrogen in a similar fashion, such as an aircraft. The power plants of such vehicles convert the chemical energy of hydrogen to mechanical energy (torque) in one of two methods: combustion, or electrochemical conversion in a fuel-cell:
* In combustion, the hydrogen is burned in engines in fundamentally the same method as traditional gasoline cars. * In fuel-cell conversion, the hydrogen is reacted with oxygen to produce water and electricity, the latter of which is used to power an electric traction motor.
The molecular hydrogen needed as an on-board fuel for hydrogen vehicles can be obtained through many thermochemical methods utilizing natural gas, coal (by a process known as coal gasification), liquefied petroleum gas, biomass (biomass gasification), by a process called thermolysis, or as a microbial waste product called biohydrogen or Biological hydrogen production. Hydrogen can also be produced from water by electrolysis. If the electricity used for the electrolysis is produced using renewable energy, the production of the hydrogen would (in principle) result in no net carbon dioxide emissions. On-board decomposition to produce hydrogen can occur when a catalyst is used.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_vehicle
The guy isn't burning H20, he is burning hydrogen. This hydrogen is made with water by electrolysis.
I believe it could work. It already has.

Electrolysis is old as hell.
What has this guy done that is special? Most likely nothing, just crackpot claims.

using electrolysis to turn water into HHO and burning it is not a crackpot claim, its been done for a while. The energy used to do it though is either created by burning fossil fuels or nuclear power plants...plus the energy returned is not worth the price to split the water into HHO...

Well, it may be a decent way to make current internal combustion engines into a cleaner burning machines.
But i agree, while looking up info on HHO gas, it doesn't seem that its more than just the parts that water breaks into. And when you add up the electrical costs of breaking up water, you don't save anything in the end (environmentally speaking).
So, this won't make environmental sense until we get our home power from clean sources. I get all my power from hydroelectric/wind, so no matter how much electricity i use at home, i add no more pollution (or at least little more).
So this would be environmentally feasible for me to have a machine sitting in my garage that just separates water all day, then i charge my car up with it, and my car can run at least partly off that.
But the same could be said for an electric car, and its probably more efficient.
