Oh, right. Weren't they like a rip-off of the Monkees?
No they were a Rutles tribute band.

By far my most favorite band. 1-5 in my car cd-changer is abbey road, magical mystery tour, rubber soul, Sgt Peppers, and LOVE. Ive been listening to the LOVE album a lot recently, its fucking amazing. The whole album is amazing, especially
I guess some songs are alright. I personally think their music is mostly sappy meaningless crap though.

And I wasn't always a fan. I respected their greatness, but didn't love the music.
Last summer I spent a three-week period tripping a lot and listening to the Beatles catalogue in chronological order. It absolutely blew my mind. Revolver was where it turned from excellent to astounding for me. I can't imagine how awesome it would be to live back in 1966 and bring that brand new record back from the record shop and put it on. Revolutionary music.
I was fortunate enough to be able to listen to Revolver and Sgt Pepper and MMT and Abbey road for the first time while tripping. I will never forget that weekend.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. -- `Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.' -- Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.

Im not gonna knock you because that is your opinion and I respect that. I agree early Beatles music was mostly sappy, cheerful, and love songs but not meaningless and crappy. Later stuff however, sgt peppers, white album, magical mystery tour, revolver, are just straight up masterpieces!
A Hard Days Night, Help!, Yellow Submarine, may be another. At any rate, the Beatles movies are ehh.. I would recommend Across the Universe. Its a musical comedy and everything from the music, to the chars, to the setting is based on The Beatles. A lot of people will argue that the plot sucks in Acorss The Universe but I disagree. I think its a wonderful movie and my favorite movie of any genre by far.
live at shea stadium is a movie /live concert It has some great early footage as well as some groovy interviews
I just can't even 'imagine' what it would have been like to live in those times Thousands of screaming girls , cool cops ,great music, lsd Who wouldn't wanna be at that show ..
