Dream's Lightweight GP tomorrow
    #8145279 - 03/14/08 09:25 AM (8 months, 18 days ago)

Gonna be pretty freaking sweet I'm thinking.

Really could go to anybody, I'm thinking JZ takes it, but that depends on how his fight with Aoki in the first round goes. It really could be a matter of who gets through the first round the most unscathed, in which case Kawajiri or Sakurai is looking good.

Dream needs to get on skyperfectv. I don't like watching on TBS tape delay at 7. They better not cut out any intro videos as it is.

Sakurai is not in the tourny. He has said he loves korean BBQ so much that he will be fighting at 170 for now and SHW next year.

I'm rooting for Dida to win the tourny. I'm hoping it goes something like this.

dida defeats alvarez
dida defeats hansen
dida defeats kyung jung
dida defeats JZ

I would prefer Aoki to beat JZ but the possibility of that seems slim and it would be nice if dida could avenge his loss. Also a bracket like this could oppositely mirror the last tourny Dida gets quick KO in the semi's but JZ has a war with kawajiri.

man i can't believe JZ-Aoki is in the first round.

That could potentially have been the finals match.

I would have love to seen more SHOOTO representatives.

Like AKitoshi Tamura or Antonio Carvalho.

I think Ishida vs JZ would be a curious fight.

FEG AMERICA said they are close to a deal and to expect the first round of the LW GP to air on HDnet next week.

I dunno I think Alvarez will get some shots in. I didn't realize Sakurai wasn't in the tournament, but he definitely has looked a little chunky lately.

I'm going to bed now but waking up in 3 hours to watch the live feed. Makes me think of Pride.

Well that was interesting.

Kawajiri didn't mount a single bit of offense his whole fight, just wrestling and positioning, Gill definitely landed the harder and better strikes but it's Japan so of course a unanimous decision.

JZ vs. Aoki was bullshit. Wahh I got hit in the neck, I'm a giant pussy now.

Alvarez vs. Dida was the best fight there. They fucking tagged each other and I'm happy for Alvarez and hope he takes the tourny.

Interested to see the next round matchups.

I could see it going the same way as Kawajiri vs. Gill. Kawajiri needs some finishing power, just like Ishida vs. Melendez who cares if you can wrestle somebody for 15 minutes, let go of the damn single leg and do something.

I think Kawajiri still has some ring rust to deal with.

But i agree completely that the T-blood matches seem to be just wrestling clinics.

Hansen-Kawajiri is a loooooong time coming. It's going to be voilent if they choose to set it up.

They were supposed to settle the SHOOTO title a long time ago.

That's true I forgot that could have been set up as a SHOOTO title. I'd love to see it because I like Hansen so much, but he can't out-wrestle Kawajiri and it looks freaking impossible to submit the guy so I sure hope that fights lives up to the potential it could have.

Hansen's always been one of my favorites.

But he is frickin inconsistent.

This most recent Kawajiri fight was surprising to me cuz the guy usually just uses his sick GnP to punish his opponents but this time around all he did was grapple for position.
