Im fairly new to the pasture subb thing, been picking weilii for 7 years. But the foes have twisted striations on the stipe and have really thick short stipes but give a brown print im confused! I thought foes had thin white stipes with straight striations on them, also bruise reddish brown on the stem. Any ideas

Those arent foes they are Panaeolus papilionaceus var. papilionaceus A different pan species, at least that is what I think you are talking about. If so they will have black spores unlike foes that have brown spores. They are a good indicator that subbs could be close usually these pop up first then when it gets warmer subbs start popping up near these. Some say they can be active but Ive never tested them out. Not poisonus just maybe get the shits the next day if you arent so lucky But since you say yours give a brown print Im not sure. Do you have a picture of the "foes?" I dont really look in the pasture but more the piles of crap that are behind the pastures and along the fense edges where you see lot of grass

We are supposed to get a frosting tomorrow morning...good thing I went out today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My first subb finds!!!!! [image] [/image] [image]http:// [/image]
Found in stable refuse. didnt like pulling such small ones but figured the frost we are supposed to get overnight might kill them. Left a lot there...I think this is just the very beginning of the season in NJ-there should be a whole bunch more growing in a few weeks. How many (if any) doses does this look like?

Nice finds man, they look fatty! Its interesting to notice that the subbs you just found look a bit different than the subbs ive been finding. There must be a lot of different types of subbs a wide variety. When you say stable refuse you mean all the stuff the scrape out of the stalls and pile up outside? Looks like maybe one dose, no more than that though. You need a good fresh ounce but more like 1.5 fresh ounces to equal 4 grams dried. Some nice blueing at the tips. I always cut mine with scissors above the base so I never see the blue

Yeah I tried to cut as many as possible, but there were certain areas where I had to snatch em up and hide back behind the mounds of substrate...going to this specific place was pretty risky so i had to be careful about being too bold (i was crawling through mounds of stable shavings like a ninja lol) Cutting with scissors is def the way to go...the only ones that blued at the bottom were the dried out ones in pic two...im a little bit afraid to eat those ones!

Ha I know the feeling, I once had to hide behind a pile for like 30 min as the farmer was coming out to mess with the sheep, and another time i was checking out a pile on private airport and about 5 cop cars saw us and fallowed us when we got back in the car but never pulled us over

I went out yesterday evening around sunset and found my patch to be dwindling down. I plan on expanding to a new place that ive been scouting and i shall be sending the pics up once i get the chance. There was a change in the weather so this particular spot was affected heavily.

So when I was at my spot on wednesday, I left a bunch of younguns. When should I go back to get them? We've had rain thurday and friday, and the temps have ranged from the 40s at night to high 50s during day. Think any more will have come up in two days? should I hold of going? The place is risky so I dont want to chance going when it might not be worth it.

Had a nice hunt yesterday. Found 1.5 lbs fesh from 2 spots. I found some of the biggest subbs ive ever seen. I think I might have the record for the biggest! Here are a couple of pics, I have more good ones just not enough time to upload them.. Will put more later. Enjoy Oh that first big one weighed 12 grams fresh! The others were still really huge too. Only like 9 grams.
