Youre not the reason it doesnt produce anymore. Eventually the ground loses its nutrients to fruit subbs and they dont return without more nutrients put in again.

I found at least 4 pounds of wet subbs in a single lawn in one hunt, and they have yet to return. I can't imagine that a lawn that spawned that many subbs will not fruit again this year at least a few more subbs. Mycelium that widespread doesn't just dissappear.
Have you seen any really large patches just not return before? They were spread over an area of 20x25ft approximately. I'm getting really perplexed as to how they could explode out of a lawn like that, and not show any signs of existence weeks later.
Edit: Holeclams, if the spore print is jet black, then they are subbs. The information you got was correct. They look like it to me.

I love hunting for subbs in my neighborhood. Just when I thought today that all of my patches were done for a couple of weeks because of high temps coming, I found three new spots all producing subbs.
I don't like how they're so weak though, I tripped on 3.9g of dried subbs on Friday and got only a level 2 trip, it was dissapointing. I'm dosing about 7 grams next time hopefully that will be alot better.

do you guys know anything about lawn fertalizer? of course, subbs seem to grow on well fertilized (rich peoples) lawns... what fertilizer is being used? i assume not manure, probably some chemical spray crap.
i want to try it in the patch in my backyard, but im not sure if the stuff i have for the garden would be good. seems to me someone would have thought to put a fungicide in some fertilzers, but i dont know...
anyone know anything?
also, for weilliiiiii and lqdtrance, if theres slugs eating the subs in your garden, take a cat food/tuna can and bury it at ground level, pour some beer in. the slugs apparently love beer and fall in and die.
goddamn things kept eating my garden before it could mature....

The spot I am reffering to is less than a year old. So far I have picked a few hundred grams dry from this spot. Over a month now and nothing. Not after rain or high humidity. They also water the lawn at least twice a day.

I've seen perfectly good looking patches disappear. And it wasn't from me overpicking them. I don't know why it happens. We just had some 114 degree days. I don't know if the myc. can survive that and recover. But they do fruit again heavily in the early fall, so maybe some myc. can survive the hot dry weeks. Either that or they have time to re-establish themselves again in time for fall.

Its possible that 114 degree weather can over expose your patch and hurt it.
As for coming back to fruit heavily in the fall, Ive never seen a patch stop fruiting and regrow several months later. The only reason I see this happening is if it gets fertilized again. Then again, This is just my experience and I am not able to see everything out there.

Well, I can confirm that the myc. can survive the 114 degree temps. It's cooled off quite a bit here and I drove by a good schoolyard patch and they were poppin up. They aren't fruiting super heavy, but then it's only cooled off for a couple days now. It's a shame that school is going to start soon and there will be kids and parents all day at the schools during prime time. I guess I'll just have to get out really early.

went today and found a few more whatever you want to call these. Subbs, florida lawn pans, casters, gg's, whatever. Who is familiar with dosage/bioassay with these?
