Just look for BEAUTIFUL grass. Lush green grass. The kind you want to roll around in.
You'll find plenty of nice lawns with no subbs. You'll then get completely discouraged and think there's no subbs any where around here. Then you'll just glance over at a beautiful lawn and BAM! There they are. It's mostly luck.
Like the guy said when someone asked him how do you find shrooms.

Most of my patches are fruiting nada, it's been hot and dry here mostly, and people haven't been taking care of their lawns! It's all dried out, it's really a bummer.
Luckily I have 15.8 g stored up and am planning a 4.5g trip on friday with a bunch of my friends, it should be a blast.

Yeah Im kinda tired of "hearing" about things and unrelated subjects.
If you have pictures to post, please do so. If not, dont post unless its something of relevance to others hunting subbalteatus.

No, It was while working. All I had was my phone and that doesn't take pics anymore. I am thinking about getting a second camera so that while my wife has one I can have the other. By time I got home they were pretty much dried up. I am hoping that we will get a good storm soon. All we have had lately are little showers here and there.

I have been working on a home made patch here. I did have it in a shady area but nothing grew and so I moved it out into the field. What I did was take a load of colonized compost, that had subbs growing out of it already. Lay that down about 5" thick and about 4'X 3'. I then took a section of SOD that had subbs growing from it and laid that on top a portion of the compost. I hope it works.

BEAUTIFUL Scout24!
Here is some of my own finds.

If anyone is wondering when the season ends, It never really does unless you have a real winter. In southern california I have found subbalteatus in every month. If you live in a cold area, you may only find them in the spring.
The spores of Panaeolus Subbalteatus are in every American neighborhood. They will fruit anywhere, they just need the right conditions to do so...
