If you want to dry them or preserve them the last thing you want to do is preserve humidity.  if you want them to rot you can definately do that though.  there is no need for a jar.
but the air vent is possibly a good idea.

the jar is just to elimainate air circulation so the spores fall straight down and make a print. i dont use a jar, i just put em on a tray in the top o' my closet to print. not much airflow up there.

I can't get good spore pics on my camera, but I know what color they are. There were 2 or so that hadn't dropperd enough spores to tell what they were, 6 foes, and 8 subbs. (That's just going by the spore prints, all of them were either jet black or dark brown.)
For my first hunt ever, I'm pretty happy.
Although... you can't really do anything with 8 subbs, can you...
but now I know how to do this a lot better, so next time will be much more efficient. I'll probably be able to find more tomorrow. Now to dry them.

right on man, keep at it, yea the air vent idea is good but i mean really you can just put them up in your closet for a couple of days and it does the trick fine and congrats on your finds

Oh, what should I do with the stems? Throw them? They're super small anyways, thinner than paperclip wire.

Sweet. I'm tempted to just eat the 8 I have before church, but I don't think that I'd feel it.

you wouldn't feel it.  you have to reach threshold, and 8 won't do it.

Im the guy that would smoke salvia right before the sermon and stumble in drooling.

Subbalteatus is amazing in the woods or a small 4 walled room with lots of electronics.

Heh, just got back from church, and I noticed a bunch of mushrooms on the lawn. Of course I couldn't just start picking them all, but i got 3 to print, and I'm printing as we speak. Suspected to be subbs, I'm pretty sure the stems are blueing at the bottom. They're big too. Ironic, eh?

Yeah, that must be it. =P
If you compare them to the other ones in the other pics, these ones are pretty big. One is about quarter size. I'm pretty happy.
