funny thing is i picked some at a grad party today. i think the are foes but one was pretty big just growing on the lawn but its probably just a foe due to lack of stem thickness, but its the biggest foe ive ever seen.

i find that grass subbs tend to resmeble foes a LOT more than pasture ones, the stems are usually thicker and in my experiences the stems are usually lighter as well, dont be fooled

PleasureX's Guide To Subbalteatus
In my experience there is no distinguishing foes from Lawn variety subbalteatus by size or thickness of stems i always find that subbalteatus tend to get taller as the cap gets bigger and foes can have small stem but a big cap, actually subbalteatus at least in my neighborhood are smaller than a fully mature foe and foes have bigger stems some of the time. When i am hunting for subbalteatus in wet grasses i look for rings on caps it doesn't really matter the color of the rings just as long as the bottom one is smoky Grey to a Grey that tells me that the gills are black to a Grey so next i pick it up look at the gills and they need to be somewhere between a smoky Grey thru solid black if there not i don't even pick them just ones with Grey to black gill everything else is a foe.
Dry grass's that the sun has dried subbalteatus tend to have off white to tan caps no rings cause their dried, But if you turn the cap over the best thing for me when identifying is pitch black gills in a dried or almost dry subbalteatus.
In dry grass some mushrooms can have rings so don't rule them out and in wet some can have no rings so check them out you never know.
I know when i get home 98% of my mushrooms are subbs so i take spore prints and weed out the rest of the foes.
This is a guide i wish i had when i fist learned but i hope it helps all u subbalteatus hunters thank you for listening and happy hunting
P.S. This is for lawn Variety only i don't pick from compost or anything else i have no clue what there description is Peace.

The wind has been blowing constantly here for months and there's hardly any mushrooms. Only two dried out subbs this weekend, but I did find an ipod mini buried in the grass.
