finally found a patch today, they're sitting in my drawer to dry as we speak. You think throwing one of those white things that keep the moisture out of beef jerky will help dry them out?

That will help. Make sure they arent on a flat surface and that air can get under them to dry them out

silica gel helps a lot, it's the only thing that will get my mushrooms cracker dry after I fan them.
My spots should be fruiting really soon, its been raining everyday here in ohio and is starting to be about 50 during the day and 35-40 at night, prime hunting weather from my expereince.

So I brought up some hay from some hot spots and I put a bunch in a plastic bin indoors to see if I could grow anything. Also put a bunch outside. Ive been having ink caps pop up and nothing else until now. Do these look like subb pins to you guys?? The little caps are a little more yellowish/brown than the picture shows. I hope they are!

I rarely find subb pins, so I can't ID those as subbs.
let them get bigger and see...

you need to look in new construction type neighborhoods, or around horse stalls and the like.

How long should I be able to keep fresh subbs lying around without drying them before they go bad? I've had a batch for a couple days and I plan to eat them tomorrow.

Put them in the freezer. You dont want them to start rotting on you. The weather is looking like subb weather this next week around eugene-portland. Anyone else around my area>?
