Thats probably true but I still wouldnt do it, Especially with the death caps, ive heard that if you cut it with you knife then cut something else you intend to eat you could have some serious trouble...

> Ive notices the ones around my home town look quite different than the ones I go driving a distance to find down south... These have more conical caps thiner stems.
P. subbalteatus is a species cluster, you are probably finding species that are slightly different but look the same. The various versions of P. subbalteatus are probably separated by substrate preference, shape of the cap, thickness of the stem, etc. Apparently the ones that prefer lawns are smaller and have thinner stems than the ones found in stable shavings. It would be interesting to do some DNA work on them.

That is not true, several mushroom poisoning experts have said that it takes a half to a whole death cap swallowed to cause problems.
Who said the thing about cutting death caps with a knife?

Ive read it one a few mushroom websites. I just never messed with them, After I touch one I make sure to wash my hands really wel or at least on grass. I can sometimes feel my skin burn a little bit when I touch poisonus mushrooms...

Ive never really seen the taste difference in foes and subbs. Except if theyre growing in a woodchip bed. The subbs there taste more like wood. The grass foes and subbs taste like grass.

Heres some ive been lazy about posting. Notice the very light gills on the subbalteatus. "For Alan." regarding that post I made a mistake about previously. It was an agrocybe I believe that I thought looked like a subb.

Beautiful. It sure does look like that Agrocybe type thing from a week or two back. Looks like that one is a light spore producer. Do you think this is a slightly different species than what you find in lawns?

I dont know if its a slightly diffferent species or not. I think more likely it has the phenotype in this particular patch and substrate to cause more albino or sterile mushrooms. I do note a higher potency from these than others. I also had bluing caps with this patch. None others.
