This evening I decided to try smoking some regular plain leaf salvia out of a short pipe. This was my first time with salvia. I didn't get anything more than a slight, slight buzz, so I decided to try the quid method.
After about 10 minutes of chewing, I could hear low-level voices somewhere off in the distance. No intelligible words, but more like a combination between a hum and a chant. Hard to explain really. Soon after (approx 15 min) I started to notice things around me differently than before. For instance, my table was creating a shadow that now appeared to be a man made of shadow on his hands and knees, seemingly begging to communicate the hardships of his experience....as the table or shadow formation. The single lamp I had on all of a sudden was casting a deep yellow haze over the wall in front of me. (Maybe about 20 min) At this point it felt as if the table I had mentioned before was trying to pull my forwards, while the lamp to the right of me was trying to pull as well in some kind of competitive battle for my body. At this point I got up and spit out the quid, and found it incredibly difficult to move about and do so. (30 min) Next I lied down, and found myself staring at a fight club poster I have on my wall. The white parts of the poster were highly vibrant and glowing, all the while the rest of the poster was as if it were leaking off the wall. I also have a NYC poster, and every time I closed my eyes and reopened the skyscrapers would grow until I closed my eyes again. By this time it had been about 40 minutes. I rested in bed for about 20 minutes.
At this point I decided to get up and type this out. I feel pleasantly relaxed, if a little bit tired. I do feel as if I'm in some kind of slow, trance-like state still. The quid was very bitter, and would try it again so long as I add honey or sugar to it to improve the taste. However, I have some 5x salvia in the mail and am curious to try that sometime next week.
Update: I would also like to add that I have noticed a greater appreciation of color since last night. It should be noted I have a mild case of red/green colorblindness. Before, I would gloss over things not caring about the colors of everyday objects. However, today I seem to pay more attention to the colors around me and see colors in a much more pleasant light, as if I had been missing something before. Strange.
