No I didn't add any but I'm sure some parmesan would have worked fine.
I took some sliced red onion and made a bed of that and about three minced cloves of garlic in my vegetable steamer and then topped it with two heads of roughly chopped broccoli.
Then I fried up some hot Italian sausage (a pound's worth). Then deglazed with some $6 white wine and added about 3 more cloves of garlic as well as two sliced red bell peppers and the rest of the sliced onion. You should also get some red pepper flakes on that to carry some of the heat from the sausage.
When that's all done I tossed it with rotini. The pasta should serve more as a garnish for this dish, so go light with the pasta and let the broccoli be the actual pasta if that makes sense. The sausage will work very well with the broccoli.
