Keyes pleaded guilty to conspiring with five other people, including defendant Gary B. Coulter, to manufacture, possess and possess with the intent to distribute more than 1,000 marijuana plants, Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian Trabold said in a statement.

Drug agents with the state Attorney General's Office handled the case. The investigators said they found 1,183 full-grown marijuana plants -- with an estimated street value of $1.2 million -- throughout eastern Crawford County in August 2006.

The agents found the plants using information they said they gathered during the search of Coulter's house in the 17000 block of Halfast Road in Rome Township, in eastern Crawford County.


Coulter is awaiting trial. Of the six people charged in the marijuana-growing operation, three have pleaded guilty in federal court -- Keyes, Randy Popieski and Dustin C. Coulter, Gary Coulter's son. They are awaiting sentencing.

Also charged were defendants Nathan Parker and Lisa Parker, Gary Coulter's live-in girlfriend. Nathan Parker has a change-of-plea hearing scheduled for Thursday. Lisa Parker is awaiting trial.

Yes, but don't forget about teh children. We have to have long prison terms to save teh children from these evil plant pushers. If we ignore the problem, the next thing you know, people will start to have free thoughts followed quickly by a complete breakdown of society and total anarchy. I'm not willing to sacrifice our future because you are a soft yellow bellied coward when it comes to enforcement of drug laws and the protection of teh children. (sarcasm)
