As long as the people you are getting advice from have experience in finance and you do research to back up what they're saying, I don't see why not.

Here's a creative money laundering scheme I heard of recently (never tried it myself):
Buy WoW items with $$$$
Transfer them in game
Sell them on ebay and pay your taxes
="Clean" Profit
