Anyone have a kombucha baby?
    #8125523 - 03/09/08 10:09 PM (6 months, 29 days ago)

I've been looking to get started, I just need a starter. Anyone have one?

A few minutes ago I was saying, "Man, what in the hell is a kombucha baby?" But I just did a search and it looks like something I should check out.

Have you actually tried this tea or whatever it is exactly yet?

Good stuff, I have thought of making my own simply because it is so expensive.

I get such a good rush every time I drink it.

i love kombucha. unfortunately i have not had much time recently to keep up with them and i let them sit too long. threw em out. im not going to bother to get another until i have the time. really good stuff though. refreshing, and incredibly good for you. green tea is my favorite kind of tea to use with it.

you should also look into kefir. i used to have an awesome site bookmarked that had numerous different life culture starters, including kombucha and kefir, they even had a kefir strain that could be used in fruit juices to make a natural fizzy fruit punch drink  if i come across it again ill post it.

Hmm I've never heard of kefir  I'm gonna have to get started with both... was hoping to work out a trade with a shroomerite who may have one... I remember awhile back people posted semi-regularly that they had starters to give out.

I'll see if I can fish up an impulse sealer once I get a culture or two going and share the love.

Anyone know how kefir is for you health wise? I'm exhausted or else I'd check out the link

well simply put, its extremely good for you, better than kombucha, yogurt or any other live cultured food/beverage.

it was a closely guarded secret of the caucasians for a long time. the region where it was found being used, the people enjoyed a long healthy life, many of the people living well beyond 100 years old, many reports of people 120-150 years old.

you should research it when you have time.

Shit, I didn't know we had any closely guarded secrets. It seems like the darker complected folks got all the good shit. That sounds good too tho, kefir.

do some research before you laugh.

living to 120 is definately within the boundaries of the healthy human lifespan, 150 is pretty unbelievable though i must say.

Ok, about kefir, does it reproduce itself like kombucha does? Like, would I have to keep purchasing more of the grains? Or could I get it started and then just keep going off of the original crystals avoiding having to buy more?

Thats one of the things I liked about kombucha... buy once and so long as you're sanitary it'll just go forever.

in the 15th century they would laugh at a 70 year lifespan...so...by the math sounds true..

seriously, our lifespan is increasing.

keeps reproducing. after a while you should have enough grains to get two batches going at the same time, or sell the other batch. whatever

actually that is incorrect, our lifespan used to be higher, and then it started to decline, and now it is rising again. but actually the people of the caucus region and the asians have always enjoyed longer lifespans that the rest of us.

The hippie co-op a few blocks down the street sells all kinds of kombucha stuff.

I'm sure the good stuff is all processed out of all of it though...
