Okay, I have been searching a trying to find exactly how the monotub substrate works. I have 11 WBS jars. I want to do a monotub type setup. I also have Straw/H-Poo pasturized. I do not know how exactly to set this up in the monotub. Do I use vermiculite at all? can someone give me a quick break down or point me to a tek that I obviously cannot find. Thanks

paint the bottom of the tub, or wrap with black plastic. Punch holes just above substrate level. Punch some towards the top, where ever... Stuff the holes with poly fill.
Spawn and mix substrate, dump in tamp down lightly.
Sit it in the dark. Colonize it, case it bada bing bada boom

pretty simple. just combine spawn and substrate (layering or sirring) give it some time for the myc to colonize the substrate.

Okay, So black plastic the bottom. Then a layer of h-poo/straw ---> WBS ---> layer of h-poo/straw?! or a mixture of h-poo/straw mixed in say a small baking pan. Then sit in dark place and let it colonize, then add light for fruiting? The Spawn/Substrate should not be above what 4"? Also, should I dampen the mixture? Ga So confusing until I get a handle on all this casing, tubs, blah blah lol

you can either layer or mix together. do the colonization in the monotub after combining the substrate with the straw. 4-6" inches is pretty common for the substrate height. Try to stay above 4" to get bigger fruits. hope that helps

I KNOW it's older. This is the most succinct description of a mono tub I've read yet. ZOM
