 Tax Fuck Up - Quick Question

i mailed my taxes in on friday and today i get a W2 form from a trust fund i got after quiting UPS. i was for $541 and i paid $108 in federal tax.
how do i amend this to my taxes? i made copies of the ones i sent in.
are these things usually a great hassle to fix?

Just file an amended version of whatever form you used. You'll also need to file an amended state return. You can get the forms at the IRS site (irs gov) and the Oregon Department of Revenue site.
This process is not a hassle, though it does duplicate some of the work you've already done in filing your taxes. The forms are fairly simple, the only tricky part is where you have to explain what you are amending, and refer specifically to the line number of the return which should be changed.

what would happen if i amended my federal return but not my oregon return?
the federal was easy to do, good instructions, but the oregon one is confusing, horrible instructions.
this is all for an additional gross amount of $550.

I would strongly recommend amending both. It's just not worth risking an audit.

You knew I was going to say that!
I know that the Oregon form is a headache, but you can get through it. The main thing is to explain WHY you are amending. If you really get stuck, call the Dept. of Revenue & ask them questions. They are actually quite helpful.
