Psilocybe guilartensis (Confirmed with microscopy pics)

Well I'm in Puerto Rico for vacation and I happen to go to El Yunque yesterday. I stumbled upon a lone Psilocybe guilartensis specimen. I'm 100% sure it is Psilocybe guilartensis. It matches the photos I seen before of them and was found on Caimitillo trail.
I didn't have a camera with me when I found the mushroom, a relative refused to let me carry the camera to "waste disk space on a stupid mushroom" , their words not mine. It would have been an amazing in-situ photo but oh well. It was found growing from the side of a slope in disturbed grayish clay. I did however take some pics in the car while it was still fresh. I couldnt get a spore print because it dried quite quickly in the hot as hell car , then a relative decided to sit directly on the bag it was in.....
Either way the specimen is still in good shape. I'll be starting quite a few perti's to try to make this single mushroom find worth it.
I'll post the pics once I return home to seattle which will be this friday.
Here's a little info on it. The cap was dark brown with a hint of orangish-red, stem was same color, it had a tiny little nipple on the cap. I mean it looked like half a BB right on top. Gills are the usual brownish-purple that turned to a more brown color once dried. It kinda of resembles the picture of Psilocybe montana in PMOTW book by Stamets.
Last thing until friday, Workman i'll gladly send you a small gills sample seeing as how I only have one specimen to keep. I know even a tiny gill fragment is more than enough for you to work with and the photos etc will hopefully convince you that this is in fact a Psilocybe guilartensis .
Adios til friday night.
P.S.
I also found a bright red, what seems to be Ganoderma on la Mina trail in El Yunque which turned to an offish beige once dried.

The name of that species always made me think of guitars.
I have only seen maybe one image of that mushroom, seen here: http://www.cortland.edu/nsf/7983psil.HTML
It definately has a BB sized umbo.

Here's the photos you have all been waiting for......
The top view:

The bottom view:

The forest it was found in: (El Yunque National Forest, Puerto Rico)

Psilocybe guilartensis!!
I also found a nice full sun-dried Ganoderma sp. in a pasture growing off of the dead stump of some thorny type tree. I took pics but they were on film so those should be developed and scanned within the next few days. Might be able to get my hands on a friend's digicam later today.
I'm assuming any shelf-type looking mushroom that has a long smooth stem and is hard shiny plastic looking and feeling is a Ganoderma. Its a dark red-brown color with dark orange on the edge and has white pores on the bottom.
Anyone know the species of Ganoderma that grow in the Caribbean?

Nope, its the clump of grayish mud it was growing from.
However once dried, the stem right near the cap where they connect seemed to turn a dark bluish-black. Only a slight ring which isn't evident in any of the pics since they weren't completely dry yet. Still not sure if its bluing or just the color it dried to.
It looks like these though doesn't it?

Very cool. It does look much like a Psilocybe. I wonder what Cactu and Workman will say about it.

I wish I would have found more but I think they are out of season. I was told they grow from June to October.
I also later visited Guilarte Forest which was only a few miles from where I was staying. I didn't find any mushrooms but it was almost as nice as the rainforest. I'm assuming that the mushrooms was named after this forest because I've heard that they grow there as well.
One quick question to anyone who might know the answer. I found a large white mushroom with brown paper type stuff peeling off the top of the cap. The stem bruised a moroonish-wine color and the sporeprint was light green kinda like keylime pie color. Alittle lighter in color though. It was growing in a pasture out of grass. My guess is Lepiota?
EDIT: I believe the green spored mushroom was infact Chlorophyllum molybdites, a very nasty poisonous mushroom that causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
I'll be throwing those prints out!

I have been back in Seattle since the 15th. I am planning on returning to Puerto Rico later this summer during the mushroom season in july-sept.
Almost all the mushrooms you have posted have been found in El Yunque.
Notice this that you posted: Psilocybe caerulescens Murrill Número de registro: 454142. Lugar de colección: Puerto Rico; Puerto Rico Island; Río Grande; Luquillo Mountains; CNF; La Mina Recreation Area; Caimitillo Trail, shaded soil bank, on trail (N18°18´ W65°47´, alt. 650 m). Fecha de colección: 19 Junio 1997. Organismo asociado: Muscopsida ord.indet. Sustrato: suelo. Colectores: A.M. Nieves-Rivera, D. Llorens, M. Serrano & R. Bonilla.
The stuff in bold is where I found the guilartensis. Supposedly Psilocybe egonii and Psilocybe caribea also grow on this same trail.
You should come to Puerto Rico with me this summer cactu!! It would be of great help to me since I do not speak Spanish.
I believe that there are 5-7 psilocybes that grow in El Yunque (Luquillo Mountains) and most were found in Either La Mina Recreation area near this waterfall.

Or on Caimitillo Trail which is right off of the trail to La Mina Falls.

Preliminary workup of the specimen seems to indicate that the species is indeed Psilocybe guilartensis.

Unfortunately, the sample arrived in pretty rough shape and I was unable to find an intact gill edge to check for cheilocystidia. Even so, the spore size and shape are correct as well as the two types of Pleurocystidia.
The sample is visibly contaminated with unknown dark elliptical spores and what looks like a type of Alternaria mold, one of each can be seen in the picture below along with the more abundant P. guilartensis spores.

3 plates of malt agar were streaked with bits of the sample which is very mature with abundant spores. Hopefully a clean isolate will result.
Well done BlimeyGrimey! An accurate identification on a single and unfamiliar specimen.
