Yeah, it's a trippy colour aye. Definitely not bruising though 3rd, you're right. Almost like a layer beneath the skin was that colour and you could see it when broken.
I'm going to do some diggin, but anyone have experience with gyms? Do they have any poisonous look-a-likes?

Yes gyms can easily be confused with deadly Galerina because they share the same habitat and spore color. Gymnopilus can be distinguished from Galerina by its larger size and bitter taste.

My home patch got some pins after yesterday rain.Made the patch using mycelium from ends of picked shrooms and some woodchips that shrooms were growing on this will be 3 years this patch has flushed.

Hence i have found those green ones before,be intresting to find out if they are actives!

hehe I was having my lunch walking out of uni today almost spat it out when I saw some shrooms at my feet, bit small though I left them more than likely being picked like all the blatant patches I'm finding lately. It's the first pic the others' are just some older ones thought I'd add

That's a cool home patch, I did that too lol but theres nothing on it. Its amazing and weird how easily the mycelium grows from anywhere on the mushroom, lets make this a shroomy(er) country:P Next time I have brown rice for tea I'm going to make some spawn.

Hey everyone,
Pretty new to mushrooms and the forum. After researching this board and hunting tirelessly for a week i came across some subs last monday and have enjoyed two great trips so far (the one yesterday was DEFINATELY more intense, melting walls, breathing etc). I was afraid i wouldnt be finding any shrooms for a while to come but now i think i have a reliable patch to keep picking from.. So heres what i found:

Great pics man, have you got photoshop? it would help keep the images alot smaller.
They are some huge subs tho! I have found similar sized ones but not so many. What part of nz you in? (dont need to be too specific).
Just some hints (this goes out to all new shroomers) if you find healthy young mushies that arent properly developed i suggest you leave them for a few days to let them grow and drop some spores. This will help keep the patch healthy. Also make sure to tap the caps a few times to release loose spores. And cut or break shrooms at their base, pulling them out can severely damage their mycelial systems.
I went out for a real quick hunt in my backyard just before. I found these, very very happy.

Great finds! I went for a huge tramp this weekend. Snow on the local peaks (N. of Welly) It was AMAZING! But I haven't found anything outside of your 'pink gilled, good on toast', variety. I've done a crap load of research and am still feeling real confident about what I'm looking for. Made a log book <- really getting into it. But I've shrugged off some comments that my local area is "too cold" for magic mushies. Anyone have actual knowledge on growing conditions that would make say: a river valley and surround out of play for the hunt?

Nice pics. Those blue mushrooms are amazingly beautiful. On a side note, what does that bench in the background say? (14th picture down)
